Mexican lantern citronella oil can lanternsthe hanging lantern i am going to make amber stone shades to cover the oil can torches to add a beautiful glow at night. the shades i realized will take some time to build gotta have hot weather to have the stones dry correctly!

This patio is separated from the rest of the yard to keep the dogs out of my flowers. It's a wonderful outdoor living space. The kitchen is just a few steps away so it is great for entertaining.

This is our patio which has a Mexican cantina feel. I painted the metal on the round table and cover the seats with Mexican oil cloth. The long rectangle table is made out of an old door from our hose I still need to paint the legs but I can't decide on a color. We obviously collect crosses which are hanging on the walls. We recently added the outdoor curtains and have enjoyed them.

The covered patio was already built. I had hand painted faux saltilio tiles on the concrete patio, but we could not enjoy it sitting outside because of all the dog hair, grass & leaves. So we put in a deck with railing and we can seperate us from the animals. We love it. I think I might like to paint the underside of the covered patio. Any suggestions? A fan would be nice too.

View of our pool and patio at our hacienda style beach home in Mexico. The pool was dug by hand and completely built by hand by the local construction workers. The pavers steps and terraces were also built by hand. It took about 3 months to build this space.

When I moved into my new house 2 months ago, it had a raised patio with interior ceramic flooring -- extremely slippery when wet and I have a broken wrist to prove it. Since we have a rainy season in Costa Rica, adding a roof with 2 skylights made this space usable day and night, rain or shine. A sink and counter along the back wall helped disguise the raised "shelf" along the floor. The shelf is there because there is immovable volcanic rock underneath. The rancho's accessories include an antique brass chandelier from the states, a trestle table, 4 rustic chairs, a Frida Kahlo poster, a stained glass window, a few candles and a hibachi grill. The back wall has a shelf made out of the foot board of a bed I found in the street. With a board on top, it became a shelf. With a fresh cup of Costa Rican coffee, it's all "pura vida" in my back yard.
