We recently added space on to our home including a mudroom! We were inspired by a photo we saw on HGTV. Here is our version of the inspiration piece. We love it!

Before and After Pitures show it all!
My son's SPACE themed room was filled with clutter and had poorly placed furniture. It's been this way since he was 5 and not suitable for a growing 13 year old. We sent him away to camp for a week and he returned to an extreme makeover, he was clueless! Orange is his favorite color, so a couple months in advance, I selected bedding and went from there. I reused items, such as his dresser and shelving by painting them. I used 5" bed raisers and now have 6 plastic boxes for neat storage ($4.50 each at Walmart, instead of toy boxes. The bed skirt was made from a $7 flat sheet. I measured from the box spring to the floor, added 4 inches and atttached it to the boxspring with upholstery tacks. I used the existing hem, so no sewing required! Straw circle placemats for the headboard to accent the bedding pattern. The curtains are microfiber and by using one panel, I created a short curtain for above the desk, had to hem the bottom and sides. Then a skirt to hide the computer tower by adding a top hem and hung with upholstery tacks, my new best friend. I have one panel left over for future accents...maybe a chest for the foot of the bed and use it for a top cushion or throw pillows. I didn't have the heart or time to tear Spaceship Columbia off the wall, so we covered it with beadboard & trimmed with moulding. Let me warn you...there isn't a roller nap that will get in the grooves...they need to be painted with a brush. It was very time consuming and we felt like Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn! We added a remote controlled ceiling fan with light and a flushmount light above the computer. Added a full bed, lockers and some extra shelving and storage bins. In the future, we're changing the trim & doors to white. Our son is picking a couple pieces of artwork and that should finish it up. It took my husband and I two whole days of hard work, but the outcome was well worth the surprise on our son's face!

My son wanted a Cowboys Football themed room. I didn't want to have to change the room as soon as he chose a new favorite team. So here's my compromise.

30 year old kitchen updated to today! We remodeled more than just the kitchen. We remodeled the laundry, back entrance and half bathroom as well. We took a space that was cramped and opened it up to flowing with style. We have a large island now that we can gather around with family and friends.

I decided to put a queen bed in Caroline's room for when we have company. It will certainly make things easier for me. And hopefully make the guests feel more comfortable than having to sleep on an air mattress! And she loves the big bed too!

Again a vision my husband and I came up with and brought to life. This space was originally an office. It was dark dreary cold and not somewhere I wanted to spend too much time - but that has all changed now! I love my new Laundry room / Mud room! The kids love it too and their friends think it is cool that they have their own lockers at home.

This small laundry room serves as the families’ entry into the house as well as the laundry room. It is only 5' by 8', so we really had to optimize the space (cabinets to the high ceiling. The 3 kids and parents now each have a place for their school backpacks, coats and shoes in the custom built cubbies. Durable slate tiles replaced the vinyl flooring. A warm color and the new red high efficient appliances make it fun to do laundry.

A baseball themed room made to grow from a nursery to a childs room. We pained a dark navy blue on the bottom and alternating 12 inch tan stripes on the top wall with a white chair rail.
The bedding has some red in it so we accented the room with red. The lockers are from Ikea and offer a lot of storage. The can be double stacked or single. We chose to do both.
We have a queen bed for this room that will replace the crib when he is ready. The other 2 locker pieces then will serve as nightstands, proving more storage.
For decorations, I painted a baseball on a 30x40 canvas and signed his name like a pro ballplayer would sign a ball. I also cut a bat and painted it dark brown to hang on the wall and use as a coat rack or a hat rack. I still have the small baseball knobs to apply. I also painted the handle of the bat white to look like batters tape. We also hung a picture and a small baby jersey that we had framed.
I put an old blue chair in the room and place a Padre themed blanket that a friend had made on the top. This will come in handy for late night feedings.

This sports room was created for a very athletic boy, who's father loves Chicago! I painted typical closet doors to look like red sports lockers with balls and jersey's inside. Super fun!
