I've been moving things around here quite a bit lately: I finally found the perfect spot for our tiki-hut - it as a little bit too big for the entrance and wasn't very functional there. We have a lot of people over, so it's perfect to keep the glass water container on it all the time now. We also got new ceiling fans - it's very hot here in Hawaii, and I wanted the fans to look more tropical so I got the woven leaf look. We added more seating and changed a few more things around:

This is my favorite room to decorate. It's so small and cozy that a few little touches go a long way to define the style and create the mood. It's a simpler look than last year but much more practical. I have no fussy decorations to move when I want to serve a tasty breakfast or have a friend over for tea. Although a rug looks good, it's really not practical in this heavily used room and so it had to go. My theme this year is definitely PRETTY but PRACTICAL.

This is our kitchen. It overlooks our sunken family room. I wish several things were different with our space but we live with what we have. I think I have made good use of the space. I don't like clutter and keep my counters free of it. I do like our counters and the back splash. I also love our kitchen table and leather chairs. I put glass over the wood the protect it. I have three little ones and it makes clean up much easier. I know it isn't very pretty to look at. I also have two boosters for my twins at the table. I have matching chairs that they will graduate to someday. Our curtains are a new addition and add some color and fun. They coordinate well with our drapery in the family room. Enjoy looking. Thanks!

we replaced our warm country plaids in shade of green and peach with a tan leather sofa and loveseat but kept the dark green leather recliner. so far i am not warming up to this look. carpet is a peach color. i'd really like to use as little of the dark green as possible this time. it's an open floor plan with the kitchen in natural oak with bright orange countertops. dining area has the same oak trim shelving with cream colored leather seating.

This is that room that exists in every colonial home, the Formal Living room. This space goes largely unused but is there to look pretty. I painted the walls a rich brown mate color and pearl finish over the crown mouldings. Again like the bedroom, I wanted a contemporary but with a slight boutiquish feel. I think that mostly I've accomplished it, but I'm no designer, for all I know this is a disaster :. This room is large approximately 20'x15 and has 3 windows.

We haven't done much in here except paint the walls a neutral beige color. I would love some color inspiration... I tend to lean towards "safe" colors, and feel stumped with this living room. With our dark wood trim and our brown and beige furnishings I have no idea what color would look good on the walls. Any suggestions???

Living room split into two areas. As you walk in on the right is where most time is spent on L shaped corner sofa. This faces a slim LED TV, XB Kinect, WII, XBOX, DVD player etc. There is an fire also built into the wall.
On the other side two leather sofas with coffee table in middle. Music system mounted on the wall. Mostly used for guests and listening to music.
Lighting is via spot lights and one up light. Two coloured spot lights under bay window for night useage.
The flooring was a labour of love to install and polish! All flooring on the ground level is wood parquet (parkay. Each block is about an inch and half thick.
The French doors lead into the kitchen (not parquet but tiles on floor. These are mostly kept shut and kitchen accessed via the front landing.
Will upload pictures of the kitchen soonÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂæ

Originally the basement was 'Mantown' as he called it. He wanted the ping pong table, darts, big screen & got it. But, he rarely uses it & we have company maybe twice a year. I decided a little makeover was in order to use some stuff I had in the garage. The former owner finished out the walls around the support beams without any thought to how the spaces would look or function. I was left with DUMB & AWKWARD nooks & crannies.

Redecorating the family room and looking for comments on this space. Please let me know if you think the leather coffee table / ottoman looks out of place with the leather chair and ottoman that it is near? Or do you think a wood coffee table would look better? Also - do these eterge shelving units looks too "dated"? Thanks for any suggestions!

In this second story, double height, TV/family room, the ceilings were brought down to a comfortable scale with the addition of a large Japanese paper lantern. An eclectic mix and lots of pillows and cherished items lend this room big comfort.
