  • The Gathering Spot, This was a old lanai area that is now a new living space. I chose armless modern furniture to keep the bulky look out. It always winds up being the gathering spot when we entertain because it is open to the kitchen on the other side., Living Rooms Design

  • Modern Fireplace make-over, Taking my dull used brick (red) fireplace brick to a new level...still in the works. Any ideas?? I applied a masonry primer first then a coat of metallic dark silver base. Painting each brick (91 of them) a variation of metallic blue purple and light silver I'm stuck now. The mantel bricks are all a light silver metallic as is the hearth. I'm wanting to add a chrome or steel accent maybe to the mantel...??? Help please :-), Living Rooms Design

  • UPDATE: A "new direction" with a Board and Batten Family Room , We just finished giving our family room a much needed makeover! The style - Board and Batten. It was a lot of work, we did all of it ourselves, but completely worth it! This room went from a space that I did not like to be in that felt disjointed from the rest of the house, to a space that I could easily spend all day in! I added cardinal points onto our ceiling for a new look! The room now has a slightly nautical feel that we love!

  • My Bedroom, A rental apartment bedroom. I painted the focal wall aqua with beige contrasting walls. Added a lot of reflective accesories including mirror tiles behind the headboard and behind the desk. Mirror tiles are mounted on MDF and hung on non-intrusive hangers to protect the wall. The table lamps are mirrored as are two mirrored tables for accesories. The bedding and curtains are light and airy aqua and brown as are the floor area rugs. I used Mardi Gras masks for punches of color and a crystal floor lamp for additional lighting. I use the room for my pc use also and to hide the wiring I constructed a panel board painted the same as the wall. The bedroom is small with attached bathroom space with vanity, shower stall and walk-in closet., Bedrooms Design

  • Bedroom Makeover For A Boy (11yo), This is the bedroom I transformed for my son. During our home search, he found one with similar colors and naturally wanted us to buy the home based off of the 'cool' room. The best way to surprise him was to make him his own. I hand painted those stripes (VERY bad idea for a first-timer). All items in the room were bought on clearance except the paint and painting supplies. A friend custom made the mirrored stainless steel skaters., Boys' Rooms Design

  • Makeover In a Day Under $500, My client hired me to do this makeover carte blanche--but with the budget of $500! I upped the anty by telling her I could do this in one day!
We literally started with blank, white walls and a poor furniture configuration that made the room feel more narrow leaving a lot of unused space. It had a bad energy flow but once we reconfigured the furniture and remodeled the room by adding paint, window coverings, artwork, new bedding and lamps...the room now evokes a much warmer, romantic appeal. I worked with another faux painter to do the faux wall. We started the paint work at 10am and finished the entire room by 8pm!
This was just what they needed for their Master Bedroom! The clients loved their new room! Their reaction was awesome too! Tell me what you think of the space and thanks for watching!, Bedrooms Design

  • NO DEMO RENO KITCHEN TRANSFORMATION, I'm notorious for just switching up accessories to recreate a space. Well, a little more magic was need to transform our 2002 "builder white" kitchen. Not wanting to overdo expenses for our Florida market and wanting to try to stay green, we opted for a NO DEMO RENO. This space was transformed within 12 hours of one day: Graphite granite counter w/recycled glass dust, black granite bar-top with recycled glass flakes, a recycled glass mini-subway style tile full-height back splash, a 60/40 artisan sink, replaced drawer knobs for cup pulls, and added the splurge: the Kohler Simplice faucet. If Carter can do it - So can you. Our kitchen was transformed by using Granite Transformations and reusing our existing counters by covering with a new (no waste in a landfill). • RECYCLED PAINT, To freshen-up & cool down for Fall, I updated our Dining Room walls by mixing left-over paint. I used a 1/2 Gallon of left-over RL Calypso blue [eggshell finish] with a 1/2 quart of left-over semi-gloss black for a $0 makeover - minus an earlier splurge this year of three West Elm woven hurricane sleeves I slipped over our glass shades to update the light fixture's look., Dining Rooms Design

  • Under $200 Update, Even updated spaces can be refreshed with just the simple add of pattern & shift of accessories. This homeowner already loved her simple and clean hotel look I did a few years ago, but needed help to re-energize it - for under $200. Part of the "save" for the budget came from making the printed curtain panles & pillows from 4 Tommy Bahama Shower Curtains found on clearance for only $8 each. Other saves came from picking up a few new accessories at a discount and adding drama for free with fresh cut palm fronds. We're on the hunt for a round rug to add to the living room seating area. Read more about the space changes and where the budget went at: http://nyclq-focalpoint.blogspot.com/2011/08/under-200-fl-living-room-update.html Thanks!, Living Rooms Design

  • Enchanted April - Spring Makeover, I need to find my "before" photo to illustrate the major transformation of this space. It was originally earth-tones and quite drab and dark.
