We essentially bought a white empty box of 1900 sq ft and had to do everything from scratch -- including bring up the plumbing and electric. We worked with an architect to design the space, but much of it was our own design and ideas.
Did all of the decorating myself. And while proud of it, would appreciate some thoughts, help, ideas on how to improve it. I enjoy decorating and design - but its just a fun hobby.

The whole concept was to have a modern but wheelchair accessible universal design kitchen. My husband uses a wheelchair but we wanted to design a space that invisibly incorporated features that would make the space more functional for him while maintaining the overall design we both envisioned.

This multipurpose room is seen directly from our small galley kitchen. As the kitchen has an elegant wine bar feel we tried to make this laundry/utility room feel more like an old world pantry. The dry good jars are real space savers but don't let the bagettes fool you - they’re fake! Baskets hold everything: detergent first aid aprons light bulbs extension cords etc. We leave the door open more often now which makes the kitchen feel like it has a bit more square footage.

When we bought the house the front door was warped and the threshold and the trim were rotting; we replaced the door and trim and added a wood storm door with some brass trim and a spicy red color for a little brighter welcome.

We like to spend time outdoors but in Houston Texas you need a covered space and pool to keep cool most of the year. We designed our outdoor living space to be an extension of the indoors. It includes a sitting area dining area and outdoor kitchen. We would love to hear what you think!(The palm design over the fireplace is not artwork. It is a flat screen tv cover.

We purchased our outdated 1964 home 10 years ago and have been remodeling it slowly. We recently finished the kitchen/laundry addition. One of the main drawbacks of our home was the fact that there was no laundry room. The washer and dryer were previously located in a small closet off of the main hallway.
After much thought, we decided to include the washer/dryer in the new kitchen area. We'd seen this many times in European homes and decided it would be a good fit for us as well. So far, I've really enjoyed it. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and it has been really handy! Also the high counter tops over the washer/dryer makes a great buffet area, easily accessible to the patio area (coming soon...
By far, the most difficult item for me to pick out was the counter tops. I really love the look of cement but was nervous to use it because it's not as durable. After months of looking at different materials we finally decided on quartz counter tops by Caesarstone in Raven. Hard to tell in the photos, but it's a very soft black/deep gray. We went with stained concrete for my table though and I absolutely LOVE it! In fact, it's my favorite part of the kitchen!
I've spent countless hours both watching HGTV and browsing here on the website getting ideas for the remodel. RATE MY SPACE was the source of much inspiration and I've been looking forward to finally adding my own photos to it :
Our goal was to create a warm, cozy kitchen area that all four of us could enjoy. Used warm colors to help counter the LONG, gray Oregon days. We're happy with the results!
Thanks for taking a look :

Our living room was a nightmare when we purchased the house two years ago but we whipped it into shape with a little elbow grease and some nice neutral furniture. We even added a dining area off of the kitchen to enjoy a more open floorplan and better use our loooong living room. This is my studio apartment, with a rather small living space, 12'x17'. My biggest challenge was creating a space that did not feel like a bedroom. I placed the bed next to the kitchen to allow maximum light and views out the windows.
