• Modern and Organized Office/Crafts Room!, It took me three months to design my crafts room and office. I looked for versatile storage, that was neat and organized and easily accessible. I wanted the paint to be bold and vibrant, but not annoying. I also created various areas in the room for certain crafts like; scrapbooking, gift wrapping, painting, sewing, and bow making. I love this room and spend hours everyday creating! , Home Offices Design

 • White and charcoal gray home office, This space, off to the side of our kitchen, is supposed to be a breakfast nook. But as soon as we moved in, our boys began putting their toys here. We didn’t have furniture for a nook, so I followed suit and put my puny little desk in the same space so I could work while they played. I thought it was temporary, but it actually was working great as a playroom/home office. I painted the salmon wall Kendall Charcoal, put in two Micke desks from Ikea, and added my own DIY artwork. • Love my new couch, I painted my curtains and you can read here how I did it:

If the link doesn't work and it says link doesn't exist on the blog, IT DOES EXIST. Just copy and paste it into the browser and it will work. I don't know why that happens sometimes. (The link adds a

at the end of the webaddress, you can also just delete that and it'll take you to the tutorial)

I finally purchased a new couch and I love it. The couch is the Claudia Sofa from Macy's.
Now I'm still on the hunt for a new coffee table. I'm kind of getting sick of my ottoman which I had only bought because my kids were toddlers and I didn't want them to get hurt on hard edges and corners.
For the coffee table I think I will go with a gold Hollywood Regency table or a modern chrome and marble top table. Lets see what I can find in an affordable option.
A lot of people always ask me why I have light colored flooring even though that the trend is to go really dark. The reason is dust and dirt! Most of my friends that have dark floors go crazy trying to keep their dark hardwood floors looking clean. I don't, because you can't see the dust and cat hair from 4 cats as much. That is also the reason why I have a traditional persian style area rug. I actually would much rather have a graphic patterned rug but they are hard to keep clean again. I've tried other rugs before. The pattern of my rug is forgiving!
That is the reason why I have the ikea pillows. They are easy to wash and keep clean. And if one is ruined, they are cheap and easy to replace.
I guess I'd rather compromise with my large busy family. Two kids and four cats do make a lot of dirt but my house mostly looks clean! , Living Rooms Design

 • Master Bathroom, Our "before" master bathroom did not feel like a master bathroom, it was tiny, dark and very depressing. We knocked down a wall, installed white tile and light paint color. • Grown-Up living room, Other than the "perfect lamp" that we're still looking for our living/dining room is finally done. All the pics that say "UPDATE" are the most recent. Since we last posted we changed the wall color, added a mirrored top to the coffee table, replaced our oversized dining table and added a new wall of shelves. The space still has a lot of personal touches, like the home-made "art," an antique family heirloom marble topped "console," mixed with some Ikea, some thrift store, some West Elm... even some Garden Ridge!

All done in collaboration with my partner and on a very tight budget. Totally "Rate My Space" style. We'd see something we like at a friend's house or on TV that was WAY too expensive for us, so we'd wait till a similar but much less expensive piece would fall in our laps. Just about every purchase was spur of the moment.

We're still working on lighting... but overall the rooms are pretty much done. Suggestions?, Living Rooms Design

 • My Little Guy's Playroom, We have only lived in our house for about one year, and during that time we have moved our five year old son's playroom twice. We technically have two dining rooms and originally used the livingroom/dining room space as a living room/playroom...that was until the entire neighborhood of five year olds discovered our home...the volume from the group can be quite loud so we decided to return the space back to its original purpose and relocate our playroom. The playroom is now in the front of the house which permits them to make quite a bit more noise and provides plenty of natural light. The new playroom opens up into the kitchen so we needed a color scheme and theme that would work and discovered one while walking around our local IKEA. The theme we chose was the Heroes of the Vegetable Patch, which is from the IKEA Torva series which includes books, fabric, and plush vegetables. I think the vegetable theme goes great with the kitchen and promotes healthy eating. We like our playroom but the kids LOVE it...provides hours of endless entertainment and only minutes to cleanup., Boys' Rooms Design
