  • A Taste of Delaware???, These are photos of the main living area(s) of my home. The space is definitely Tuscan inspired, but like all of my designs I try to balance the space with tasteful, quality furnishing and accessories that fit the space appropriately, instead of overcrowding the space with every Tuscan thing I could find. Some of the pieces were custom made, but most were store bought.
The foyer mirror was originally a different color, so in order to make it fit I painted it with gold and oil rubbed bronze spray paint and coated it with a flat varnish to finish it off. I usually have a real palm in the foyer, but it is the middle of winter and I can't find anywhere! My last one had a centipede nest in the root of the plant so needless to say it couldn't stay in the house! It took me a week to figure out where those things were coming from!
I recently updated flooring upstairs as well as the railing on the steps which used to be white wooden spindles. In order to replace the railing I had to also replace the entire staircase! So to save a little bit of money I did the staining myself (what a pain!). I hope you guys enjoy the space!

  • 17 foot high ceiling in 1938 hacienda, This kitchen has a new 17 foot high ceiling. Kitchen is small with original cabinets. Saltillo tile needs to stay because it flows into great room and laundry room. Uneven walls old cabinets/appliances. Original scarred laminate counter top/back splash all need help. And paint color too. This kitchen is loaded with charm but needs a major over haul or just a face lift would be ok too. , Kitchens Design

  • Help with Color - High Ceiling, Low Ceiling, Archway, I need help with how to paint my 3 rooms. It is still white. Our last home, each room was defined & I love blue, tans & greys it was easy. I love beachie, topical. Should I do an accent wall? Which wall? This house has high ceiling in living room and dining room; low ceiling in the kitchen and archway to hallway and they run into each other. I have a lot that I want to do (change kitchen counters to black, change flooring to all tile) but that has been put on hold. I lost my job in Jan. I am home now & I can afford to paint, but I don’t want everything blue, the guest bathroom & master bedroom are already blue., Living Rooms Design

  • high ceiling blah, This is an open livingroom to an eating nook and the kitchen. Only the livingroom has high ceilings, and the whole space is a pretty blah tan. There are only three windows along the back wall which is not south facing so we never get much direct sunlight in creating a darker space in general. So, the lighter walls are a good idea, there is just soooo much of them! I would LOVE to add some design details to really make this huge space POP! I just don't know where to start, and I don't have money to experiment with so I need a plan before anything is done!, Living Rooms Design
