  • Not so grand piano room, Seeking inspiration! I'd like to redecorate my small formal living that features a beautiful, but very substantial grand piano? It is now sitting in front of a big bay window on the east wall. Issues: Room seems unbalanced, and I'm not happy with the placement of sofa and chairs. Despite the light walls and carpet, the room is poorly lit, especially for playing the piano in the evening. We've had the taupe carpet, pale pink walls, red upholstery, and blue draperies for over 10 years and are overdue for a change. I'm craving a creative, green garden atmosphere - is that possible with a big piece of polished mahogany dominating the room? Carpet is damaged and must be replaced. I can slipcover or replace the upholstered pieces, and the end table can go, but grandma's china cabinet stays. , Living Rooms Design

  • Red Eye, Our Living Room is a trip that is going nowhere fast. We paid an interior decorator to suggest furniture placement and this is what she came up now we are stuck with this furniture and this configuration that has no punch, no character, no wall decorating, boring NEW granite fireplace. It is just a soporific red and gold sea. HELP! (The TV is just temporary- it needs to go into the den), Living Rooms Design

  • Open Design Nightmare to Decorate..., Moved from a traditional home 8 months ago and love our new place - I am just having a difficult time decorating it. As you can see, I have a grand piano in the eating area, yeah, I know - it would do better any where else! But I don't HAVE anywhere else!! If we put it in the "sun room" area, it blocks the gorgeous view out our back windows and the incoming sun would RUIN the finish, Living Rooms Design
