  • Piano Room, When I first bought this townhome, in San Dimas, CA I knew I wanted to make it in to something special. I've been playing piano for about 18 years, and I wanted my Piano Room to be one of the most highlighted rooms of my home. Although not pictured, the room was originally equipped with brown carpet and semi gloss white paint. Before I moved in, my boyfriend and I laid down new laminate wood flooring ourselves and repainted this room "Pavilion Beige" (Sherwin Williams). But after seeing my piano in it, it was dark, still felt empty and I wanted something bright and bold. Contrary to most, I decided to not let my piano be the absolute main focal point of the room. I decided that I wanted wallpaper solely on the back wall to be my main focal point and to make the rest of the room look as simplistic and natural as possible. At first glance I wanted people to initially notice the wallpaper and then notice my beautiful piano and all of the accessories within it.

I went with this beautiful wallpaper called "Majestic Teal" from Graham & Brown. I also wound up painting the rest of the room "Pure White" by Sherwin Williams to make the room look brighter but still warm. It was also important to find a white that would look good with the lighting in my room and also against the Teal/Gold Wallpaper

Because of the bold wallpaper choice and of course my bold piano in a smaller room I decided to go with something a little more simplistic. The "Mobile Small Pendant" from West Elm. Although not truly captured here, it's completely beautiful and gives the room enough lighting with 6 Edison Style Lightbulbs :) This lighting choice was a little bit more on the rustic/industrial side in comparison to all of the other choices in the room.

The shelves were completely DIY and it was my first time ever making shelves from scratch. Since the lighting was a little industrial I decided to make my shelving industrial as well. With galvanized piping being the supporting beams from the shelves, and distressing the wood like crazy.

The best part of this room was that it was completely DIY and the wallpaper/repaint/lighting/shelving was done for less than $500!

1. Graham & Brown Wallpaper: $70 (on sale)
2. West Elm Lighting: $161 (on sale)
3. Shelves: $140
4. Sherwin Williams Paint: $100
Total: $471, Other Spaces Design

  • Another old white plaster walled apartment bedroom becomes home, I'm a free spirit freelancer who loves city apartment locations. I do my best to make the old drab buildings, which I usually can't paint into homey, peaceful, happy, bohemian, practical spaces for myself my husband and my six year old daughter using more imagination than dollar. This is what I've done with my bedroom.

I try to incorporate things from travels, consignment and creativity. I hope you like it. I do., Bedrooms Design

  • Master Retreat, I wanted my bedroom to look and feel like a luxurious hotel, yet have a personality and warmth. I guess one would call it transitional, although I prefer a more modern look. There are old world elements mixed in, by necessity. I also took the liberty of mixing metals throughout by using steel, gold, bronze, and copper finishes. The chandelier in the dressing room feels elegant, while the three-way mirror reflects light back into the room., Bedrooms Design

  • Un Kitsch(Jean) Reno, Here's our teeny 64-square foot, 1980s 'blech' galley opened up into a warm, Parisian-style apartment kitchen for less than $12K. For our first renovation project, we played it safe by saving up & paying the experts to do the hard, dangerous, and/or expensive-to-repair stuff and focused on creating a warm space we knew we'd love for years to come., Kitchens Design

  • A Crafty Getaway, Welcome to my craft room/office! I enjoy painting, crocheting, and card making especially. I’m a part time college student and part time entrepreneur. My desk is for official business but the color inspires my creativity. I have a reading corner to sit back and enjoy some quiet time. I decided to use a folding table and chair for my crafts; this gives me the option to use the center of my room for exercise/yoga. It also doesn’t matter if I get glue and glitter all over it. I still need a few things to make my room complete: a tv, an easel, and a Cricut machine. I might buy a chevron rug for the center of the room too. I live in an apartment, so rather than paint the entire room (and have to paint it white when I move), I sponge painted a confetti wall with pink and glitter paint. I decided to get a dresser to keep my fabric and yarn and other materials because it hides the mess. I also want to paint the dresser and mirror. I hope you enjoy the tour :), Other Spaces Design

  • Our Backyard Retreat and Staycation Spot, After 2 years of hard work, sweat, and our creative juices flowing, we finally managed to complete a peaceful, enjoyable retreat in our own backyard. The gold fish pond was designed using actual large rocks from our property which made it special for us. My husband spent 100's or hours working on perfecting the pond and making the concrete patio and pathway, one mold at a time. The tiled bar is a great place to sit and relax and was constructed in only about 2 weekends. At night when the yard is lite with Bliss Lights the effect is magical. This project has been our dream and our obsession for 2 years. We could not have finished without inspiration from HGTV, Pinterest, and countless trips to Home Depot. We hope you enjoy our photos because we really enjoy our space., Patios & Decks Design
