  • Summer Country French living room, Country French plus a touch of cottage with a palette of green red and yellow . An open floor plan with a sunny feeling, which is great in the gray Pacific Northwest. Per request the paint color is called Harvest moon, color #1366 by Sherwin-Williams. This color I guess has been revised so here is the formula on the paint can. The base color is A88W51 extra white. Using Colorant #32 Y1 Yellow 1 part and Y3 Deep Gold 34 parts.Using colorant # 128 Y1 yellow 1 part..I hope this helps. Sherwin-Williams should be able to find this color. Thank you all for you kind comments, I am truly flattered, Living Rooms Design

  • If at first you don't succeed, pick up the paint can and try again, Ok, so this room has been 5 different colors since we moved in 6 months ago. I just couldn't seem to get it right: too bland...then too bright...then too depressing....
You get the idea. Anyway, I finally settled on something "just right." It's the same color I used in my great room at the last house I owned. "Buckskin Pony" by Valspar Signature (Lowe's.)

Originally the fireplace had a large framed opening for an old-style TV. None of ours fit, so we framed it up, and patched the sheetrock so that we could hang a tv in front. The living room is open to the kitchen, seperated by an awesome expanse of open counter. The kitchen is small, and lacked storage area, so we decided to frame up a wall and enclose the breakfast area to create a very large walk-in pantry. It's definitely the best thing we did to improve the house so far.

Update 3/26/10: I've had a few questions about the furniture. All the pieces in the house come from Ashley., Living Rooms Design

  • Winter Shabby White slipcovered cottage chic, Updated one of my living rooms. The chill is in the air and I no longer wanted to see big roses. It's shabby yet chic with lots of black and white. I took away all the garden items that were pink. Repainted a cupboard from pink to white and am enjoying it's new look for a cooler season. **I just went back in to preview these photos are dark will update with better photos. thanks for looking.I love pretty things and unique things no matter where I find it curb, gar. sale, shop ect...it may sometimes get to be too much eye candy but it makes me smile and i like that. The toile looks busier in the pic than it looks in person...funny?..I think the real point is to get ideas and be inspired as i enjoy getting ideas from all of you. , Living Rooms Design

  • Foyer Redo, This was the first project we took on in our 1918 home since we knew it would be so time consuming (and we didn't have any kids yet). We stripped the woodwork and layers of wallpaper to paint. However we hadn't learned yet the marvels of skimming the plaster walls so they are still a bit rough! The paint is Humble Gold Sherwin Williams., Living Rooms Design

  • Upon A Midnight Clear, That's what my navy blue reminds me of at night ~ a midnight sky :) Season's Greetings everyone! (Yes I decorated a little early :) ) Gilded pinecones seemed to be the running theme for me this year. I collected them from around my neighborhood and spray-painted them a metallic gold and used them throughout my house. It was a fun project and the cost was minimal! Wishing you all the joys and blessings of this most wonderous season :), Living Rooms Design

  • Tara's Foyer, When my husband and I bought our house the original foyer was very contemporary--wall to wall carpeting contemporary staircase and no mouldings. Since we prefer traditional style I designed this space with the use of solid oak hardwood floors finished in a Merlot stain a new staircase and lots of moulding! Although it's not a large space It really changed the look of the house. I appreciate your comments!, Living Rooms Design

  • Living Room in 1934 Cape Cod, This room had a LOT of wood stained in Colonial Maple. We wanted to keep the feel of the 1930's by keeping the color stain on the wood ceiling and walls true to the original. I used an olive taupe wall paint color to help balance the orange in the wood color. Then I used varying shades of gold fabrics to distract the eye from the orange. I like designing rooms that look like they have evolved over decades and have old souls. , Living Rooms Design
