My client's home is of the Craftsman style and they wanted a room that was charming and felt natural in the home's setting. Choosing a garden theme with handpainted poppies, a tree and birds, we combined the custom bedding and a handmade etagere to complete the sweet retreat.

This column is in the center of our lakehouse. Three pocket doors meet to form a "T". This divides the dining room from the front parlor and then both rooms from the center hallway

This nursery was designed by my mother and me. This room was planned with a small budget and no professional help. Everything was painted and made ourselves. The bedding was made of remnants of fabric from "The Cotton Patch." We had a very small space to work with but we had a great time doing it! The nursery is painted peach with gold damask stenciled walls. The crib is a venetian gold canopy with custom gold and cream satin and silk bedding. An antique white armoire sits in the corner lined with pink toile fabric. A personalized "A" is painted on the wooden cornice board that tops the window. Underneath are cream shears for curtains. Gold and peach hand-painted sconces hang on each side of the closet door. The peach gerber daisies that frame the mirror add a whimsical touch to the elegant room. A simple cream minky dot chair is in another corner of the room with a peach silk and white lace pillow where a cute bunny sits. The area rug is made of flowers in a soft cream and tan. Hanging on the peach walls are two small canvases with paintings of topiaries in scrolled urns and sweet birds and bunnies.

When I recently bought a mirror, a Louis Philippe period mirror, I was so thrilled that it made me think about my design aesthetic: a mirror and chandelier in every room. I am so enchanted with my new (old mirror that I wanted to highlight the mirrors and chandeliers in my favorite rooms.

First party in my new kitchen/ dining room. Had such a great time acting silly with the ladies... everyone left with a smile. If my space has made you smile, I'd love your feedback.

Since the moment we found out we were expecting my brain went to work on the nursery! When we found out we were having a girl, I knew I wanted a modern chic room that was sweet and girly, but not "baby-ish". I scoured the internet (thank you, ETSY! and pulled together what I feel is a beautiful nursery for my little girl! The room is calming and sweet, not too busy, and functional without being messy.
We just love it and hope that she'll look back one day and feel the love we put into each and every detail (:

Updated one of my living rooms. The chill is in the air and I no longer wanted to see big roses. It's shabby yet chic with lots of black and white. I took away all the garden items that were pink. Repainted a cupboard from pink to white and am enjoying it's new look for a cooler season. **I just went back in to preview these photos are dark will update with better photos. thanks for looking.I love pretty things and unique things no matter where I find it curb, gar. sale, shop ect...it may sometimes get to be too much eye candy but it makes me smile and i like that. The toile looks busier in the pic than it looks in person...funny?..I think the real point is to get ideas and be inspired as i enjoy getting ideas from all of you.

This room had a LOT of wood stained in Colonial Maple. We wanted to keep the feel of the 1930's by keeping the color stain on the wood ceiling and walls true to the original. I used an olive taupe wall paint color to help balance the orange in the wood color. Then I used varying shades of gold fabrics to distract the eye from the orange. I like designing rooms that look like they have evolved over decades and have old souls.

Our 1920 house had the original kitchen and an under-used addition, which some call a three season porch, adjacent to it. We began the renovation by replacing the old jalousies with energy efficient windows and door. To help blend the two rooms, our contractor removed as much of the shared wall as possible. The original plan was to take down the entire wall; however, our plan had to be revised when we discovered plumbing inside that wall. Our contractor helped us contain the cost by custom building more kitchen cabinets to match the existing ones. This also gave me lots of additional storage - who doesn't love that! Bead board was installed along the breakfast room wall and at the ends of the cabinets. We had a local artisan make the wrought iron towel bar/pot rack. Recessed lighting was installed in both rooms along with honed "Jerusalem Gold" limestone countertops and "Saltillo" terracotta tiles (set on the diagonal. We visually joined the two spaces by using the same materials and colors throughout. It was a challenge to put a "new" kitchen into an old home. We wanted it to look as if this renovated kitchen was original to the house. Having our contractor custom build more of the old style cabinets helped retain that look. My husband and I have traveled to Tuscany together and were inspired by the earthy colors and rustic textures of that landscape. We kept this in mind when we were making the design choices as we renovated this space. In conclusion, we are pleased with the result.

Celebrity style nursery inspired from a recent trip to Paris while I was pregnant with our little girl, Lila Paris. The color motif comes from the famous chocolate shop Laduree.

We recently moved our 3 1/2 year old into our former guest room to make room for another baby. We let her "pick" her colors - she said pink and blue. This is what we came up with! A room definitely done on a budget!

This is a bedroom I decorated in our guest house. The space is used most by my mother-in-law when she visits and I really want her to have a space that she can enjoy. The room is small. I know people say don't paint a small room a dark color but if the paint is matte and the trim is light and you use accents to brighten it up ( in this case I used mirrors then you can get away with it. Don't be afraid to experiment ..it's just paint. The walls are a dark brown. The amoire I made by combining three amoires from Target to make two amories...one for the bed room and one for the guest house living room. I'll post those pictures in a minute. This room was done on a small budget. Hence the Target reference. The "fandelier" is something I cooked up 10 years ago. I entered it in a contest about 5 years ago and have since seen it knocked off. tsk tsk. Anyway it's just a fan painted silver then leafed. I wired crystals to it. Not all that complicated but when I wanted to buy one 10 years ago there were none to be found.

The 1950's Henredon sets the tone in this eclectic space . The classic shaped end tables with a contemporary metal with application keep the room interesting. I plan to add a metallic gold paisley/ cream wallpaper paint to the walls . Pics to come !
