  • Laundry hallway closet, I recently completed a pretty indepth upstairs renovation. We transformed a laundry room into a guest bath and a bonus room into 2 bedrooms. My biggest obstacle was what to do with my laundry room. The result was really the only option I could think of that made sense...I moved the washer and dryer into a hallway closet. The key to the function of this design was the sliding glass doors that I found online at the Sliding Glass Door Co. and the custom shelves from local organization company. Without them I would have been stuck with tiny, cramped area full of wasted space with typical ugly bi-fold doors. , Closets & Utility Design

  • Small Kitchen Facelift needs help with backsplash, This is the BEFORE picture of my small kitchen redo. I had the 1980's light oak cabinets painted and "distressed" plus glass in 3 doors. Also had the fluorescent tube lights removed and can lights added. The kitchen feels 1/3 larger now!! Added a nice pot rack. Now need to add new counter tops and a backsplash. Counters will be replaced with dark silestone or composite. Any suggestions for the backsplash - please note dark vinyl floor which I love. See "after" pictures. Thank you., Kitchens Design

  • DIY: Travertine Tiled Shower Makeover, We changed out our builder-grade shower stall for a travertine tiled shower. This renovation was much more difficult than we anticipated, but we are so glad that we actually did it! We love the extra space it provides & the natural light that flows through the bathroom now.

  • "WOW!" Kitchen, Art Deco inspired contemporary 300 sq ft custom kitchen. We built this kitchen addition and dining room renovation on weekends w/ the help of our friend and professional contractor. It took a long time but it was worth saving about 40K on labor. The cabinets are maple shaker style....base cabinets are charcoal and snow drift top cabinets accented w/ irridescent glass tile backsplash over sink area. Marina pearl granite 10' 3" x 54" tops the snow drift island w/ prep sink, microwave & hidden trash. 17' stretch of counter consists of 6 burner cook top w/ red tiffany glass backsplash and charcoal butler's pantry has glass door upper cabinets. Floor is Italian 16" x 24" porcelain grey w/ random cream tiles in a staggered subway tile layout. The window over sink is 6 feet wide. Full glass side door and 6 foot sliding door to yard bring in lots of natural light. When it snows, you feel like you are standing in a snow globe because of the room shape and windows! Check out our space and let us know if it has the 'wow' factor! Enjoy!, Kitchens Design

  • My Halfway done Country French Kitchen, It is a mix of reds and yellows. Waverly provided the perfect curtains for all the windows. The french doors makes my space look "cottagy" and provide for tons of light. I like the buttermilk color on the walls, the legs of the DR table motivated me to start with that color. I like the rooster theme also, but stopped at the few plates and the one picture on the wall. I need to do something else, I do not know how to complete the look. There is something missing., Kitchens Design

  • She Shops Saturdays!, Welcome to my "new" home. Have you ever walked into a home and just knew it was meant for you? That's the way I felt the first time I saw this lady. Even though she has some wrinkles (some call it cracks in the plaster) she a grand ol' gal. Join me (and please give suggestions) as I strive to get that comfy cottage/shabby chic look (Victorian is just a little too stuffy four our life style). Hope to hear from you!, Home Exterior Design

  • Burned out on Fireplace Ideas, Cozy family room with BIG issues. The fireplace is 6ft tall and over 5 ft wide and the ceiling is vaulted 18 ft at the peak. (lots of fun to paint) I need ideas for a big design element for over the mantle. We've tried mirrors not good...they reflect the kitchen stove - ugh. And the wreath we use at christmas is over 42'' in diameter and it is still small. Any ideas for the large 12ft wall above the doorway would be appreciated also. Thanks for checking out my space., Living Rooms Design
