All thats left for me to do is install the new hardware and get a few more decorations. Here are some before, mid, and after photos of the kitchen. Entire remodel before the appliances-$700. Not bad for an entire kitchen update, Kitchens Design

  • Home Automation with Siri and Raspberry Pi, Many of us have played with Philips Hue, Nest, BelKin WeMo or made some DIY alternatives ourselves. These devices are great. But, in some ways they are not very natural. It is a lot easier to turn the wall switch on or off than to unlock your phone, flip through apps.

With Apple's Homekit, we can now control these devices with Siri. In short, HomeKit has two major components. One is the iOS framework, which sits on user’s phone and manages his devices. Another is the communication protocol that has to be encoded into the device. If we implement this protocol in our device, iOS will pick it up and we can do something similar to the video above.

In the following instructable, we built a HomeKit compatible light bulb with Raspberry Pi.
