  • Budget-Friendly DIY Kitchen Makeover, The 1990s oak kitchen in my new-to-me lakehouse was dated, worn-out, and provided little storage space. With my Handy Hubby, I removed the upper cabinetry and tile, painted the remaining lower cabinets turquoise, added crisp white paneling, open shelving and DIY pantry, built a DIY solid maple counter, plus added a shiny new sink, faucet, and hardware. It's a temporary solution to get us through the next five years while we save for a major remodel, but we like it so much it might stick around longer!

See more of the space here (including links to all of the DIY projects and sources plus a budget breakdown):

  • Out with the paneling, This room had wall to wall paneling, with built ins that were even with the face of the fireplace. We widened the doorway to open the room more, tore out all of the paneling and built ins, dry walled and installed walnut flooring! So much happier!!!, Living Rooms Design
