  • Fine Lake home "not" so fine! We need HELP with color., Our house needs a new look! What color should we paint the window trim, the decking, and handrail. The house needs some character with landscaping as well. Also looking for advise on decorating the deck with outdoor patio lights and furniture, ect. We feel that the house is too bland and it needs some character. We live in a house that is 1,600 sq. ft. on the main level, and 1,200 sq. ft. on the lower level. It has a light grey vinyl shake siding called "weathered white". The windows are trimmed out in cedar painted white. It has double hung white windows, and two white french doors facing the lake. The lakeside is considered the front. There is a front deck that wraps around to the back of the home and it is a grey Trex maintenance-free decking. The deck railing is cedar painted white with aluminum spindals. The gutter is 6 in., 1/2 round, galvalium. There is a detached garage with the same siding, trim, and gutter. There is no lanscaping to speak of. We are desparately needing advise on how to create a shabby chic look, that is fun, and inviting, but yet elegant. , Home Exterior Design

  • Guest Bathroom Renovation , Everything had to go, I mean everything....tiles, walls, floor, the old tub...the entire bathroom was gutted--including the hideous light blue matching toilet and tub from the 50's. I replaced the tub with a marble tile shower stall with frameless glass doors. I installed the radiant heat floor for toasty feet.
The hardest was finding a vanity that's beautiful enough to look like a piece of furniture but finally succeeded and was able to create a classy powder room for guests! , Bathrooms Design

  • ROOM FUSION, I thrift. I love green. I live for black. I love accessories. I'm totally diggin' gold as well as pops of pink. I appreciate playing with patterns, solids, textures and light. This space is a total reflection of all that. Even in a recent Home & Design article in Sunday's paper, they had featured how everything is coming up rose motifs as the latest trend for the home for spring. That doesn't always mean you need to run to Pier 1 Imports to buy a new floral print club chair. Maybe YOU can become the fresh accessory you add to your room. To read more about the details of how this room came together, come visit me at my blog: http://nyclq-focalpoint.blogspot.com and thanks for visiting and Happy Spring!, Dining Rooms Design

  • HIP HOP PINK POP, While experimenting with various versions of table styles for our Easter table, I also tried the refreshing trend color for this year - Pink - but in a more saturated verion to pair with my already vibrant Lime Green dining room walls. What also helped to keep the look fresh & modern was pairing the duo of pink & green with black & white. One other detail was added to create a trendy look - the addition of gold touched with gold. Although one version is more specific for Spring / Easter - the other can be an alternate for a fresh Summer table., Holidays Design

  • Sophisticated kids bathroom, The original bathroom was not so chic "PINK" from the 70’s on the second floor. I had to turn this into a shared bathroom for my two preteen girls. It had to be somewhat neutral and sophisticated so that they can grow into it through the teenage years.
The original size was 5-foot by 5-foot and only had one sink vanity. Adding another sink and make it into a double sink vanity was imperative.
We gutted the bathroom entirely except for the porcelain tub which saved money $. I took one of the closet from one of my daughters room and extended a wall into part of the 2nd floor landing and expanded to 5-foot by 8-foot space. By expanding the bathroom area, I was able to add a double vanity and also a room for washer/dryer, which is enclosed behind doors so that it's not exposed to the bathroom.

  • Wall Graphic Mania, In our sitting room, we had this great wall for a feature wall, so we designed a wall graphic specifically for the wall. Connected to the livingroom is our master bedroom with a french door that we had already put a graphic on as well., Living Rooms Design

  • Teenage Boy's Skateboarding Room, I wanted to get a mature look but still be able to show who my son actually is and what he is into without it being over-themed. One wall is painted black and he has a grease pencil he can graffiti with and erase when he wants. It is cleaner than chalk and a cool wall for him and his friends., Boys' Rooms Design

  • Our Backyard Water Park!, My husband and I wanted something unique and fun for our kids. We also wanted it to look mature. We have seen these types of water parks around Florida. We wanted our own private one. My husband designed and put together this. We went with travertine tiles and ceramic tiles. Everybody loves coming over to enjoy our backyard water park!, Yards Design

  • Garage transformation, When I bought the house, the garage had bare walls, concrete floor, no storage....it was just plain ugly.
I renovated by insulating the walls, finished the wall with wainscoting, shelving system for hanging bikes, gardening tools, etc, added a ceiling storage space with pull down stair access and cubbies for storage which serve as my mud room. Electric heater was added for heating the garage in the cold months. I had the floor finished with epoxy for final touch. , Garages Design
