Results found for "french doors"

  • From Wall to WOW!, Our like-new home had a formal living room in it, but it was a very small dark box, so we decided to knock out the wall leading to the family room and put in French doors and built-in shelves and storage. What a difference it made!, Living Rooms Design

  • The Fountain Patio, When we talk about blending home and garden this is a perfect example.

Drawing on California's Spanish Colonial architectural heritage, the garden works to enhance the architecture of the home. The plants, common to the Mediterranean, are both colorful and drought tolerant. The use of wrought iron is a tradition directly from the Old World. It is timeless, durable and looks like jewelry.

  • Master Bathroom with a View, We recently (finally) renovated / remodeled our master bathroom that had been sitting gutted since the day we bought our house - over 3 1/2 years ago. We finally were able to borrow the lump sum needed to do this massive makeover. The issue with the original bathroom - other than the fact that it was super dated (green wallpaper) and yucky, was that the main drain was cracked and water was leaking to the floor below - into the walls and down to the floor. This is a second story bathroom and below it is the kitchen and dining room. Sadly the previous tenant was using the bathroom even with the broken drain pipes which had caused mold in the walls which we had to get professionally cleaned! Anyway, all that's in the past now and we have a fabulous modern (but comfortable) master bathroom that feels like an expensive hotel / spa and it even has a view of the bay and golden gate bridge!

feel free to follow our blog for the rest of our adventures in home makeover here - http://fixerwithaview.wordpress.com - we even have a blog section about how we almost got onto HGTV's curb appeal - shot the reveal and everything before our project was cancelled., Bathrooms Design

  • All Decked Out, Finally we have our beautiful cedar deck completed. It really adds to our home by offering us extended living space directly accessed through the double french doors both in the kitchen and the dining room. We wanted to create a space that welcomed visitors as well as brought back memories of two of our favorite destinations, Sardinia, Italy and South Beach. We are thrilled with the results and have already had the opportunity to host friends here., Patios & Decks Design

  • Old Fashion Vestibule With Park Influence, We recreated our 100 year old building to retain neighborhood flavor. While contemporary on the inside, retaining the idea of a vestibule maintained the Baltimore Row House heritage, provided an energy efficient transition into our great room interior and creatively features an old world tiled feel with a bit of our neighborhood park influence., Other Spaces Design

  • My Halfway done Country French Kitchen, It is a mix of reds and yellows. Waverly provided the perfect curtains for all the windows. The french doors makes my space look "cottagy" and provide for tons of light. I like the buttermilk color on the walls, the legs of the DR table motivated me to start with that color. I like the rooster theme also, but stopped at the few plates and the one picture on the wall. I need to do something else, I do not know how to complete the look. There is something missing., Kitchens Design

  • Casual Italian Dining Room, My dining room, once a covered patio by the pool, is now an enclosed dining room open to the kitchen. My inspiration was the 4 steel arched french door sets that my demo happy friend asked me to take to the dump for her (I have a really big truck). She also had a kitchen full of 3 year old top of the line kitchen cabinets and an antique butcher block sitting on the grass in front of her house waiting for the same dump run. (I'll save that part of the remodel for another time)., Dining Rooms Design

  • Master Bathroom remodel, I had an incredibly small bathroom originally, shaped like the letter L and I had the wall taken out and french doors added. The slate floor and walk in shower with marble tile tops were added and I put up the small slate shelving myself with the extra tiles. I also built the mirror myself with a slight slant forward to see better instead of the traditional flat against the wall version of the vanity. The sink and closet doors are from ikea, but the shelving and frame I built myself with scrap wood from an earlier project in the kitchen. Overall I'm really pleased with the outcome., Bathrooms Design

  • Cramped & Crying, Small (11' x 13') TV room, sitting room, den - not sure what to call it. A lot of light due to french doors and 3 windows. French doors have 2" wooden blinds while the windows have plantation shutters. This is the room where my husband and I sit, watch TV, read, etc. My furniture won't fit! I need ideas as to how to arrange current furniture or suggestions for different furnishings. Must be comfortable and grandchildren safe., Other Spaces Design

  • A Dining Room What I Always Wanted!, This is a real dining room not an area like I had for way too many years. It isn't as large as I'd really like, but I have seated 12 squeezed in. The table will enlarge and I have 8 chairs. The whole house had the same color on all the walls when we moved in. This was so exciting to put color on the walls. We put the French doors in because it had a large window, but I had a vision of walking out into my garden and gazebo from the dining room. It works!, Dining Rooms Design
