  • Contemporary or Traditional? I got my way! (for once) , We had a 8 year old builder's grade master bath that my wife simply hated. We decided to redesign the bath to our tastes and we think it looks great! I've got to admit, the room design suits my contemporary tastes much more than my wife's traditional preferences. Believe it or not, the heated marble floors are my favorite thing about the entire bath., Bathrooms Design

  • Facelift for Masterbath, Although this was a small outdated, dark master bath and has recently undergone a renovation. There were many inspirations, mostly from designers and photo's across the web. We were going for a bright, clean, contemporary look; inspired by a spa-like feel and earthly accent tones., Bathrooms Design

  • Small Bathroom - Beautiful and blue from - 1970's ugly and worn out. , This bathroom desperately needed help. The bathroom is in a 70's house and is very small. The tile job is bad and the vanity is too large for the space. The tile has plastic wood trim and lots of caulk around it which makes me think that the tile job may be much worse than it looks on the surface. I am going to find out what lies beneath.

I striped most of the walls down to the studs and started installing my new blue bathroom. The mosaic tile took a while to put together. After that everything went up fairly easy. Replaced the vanity, counter, toilet, medicine cabinet adding trim around and to the ceiling. I added storage shelves recessed in the wall with trim to the ceiling to match the medicine cabinet and vanity, which I had added decorative wood to the door and drawers. The only thing that was not replaced was the tub which we had refinished to match the toilet and sink. The piece of granite for the counter was actually given to me as a 36 X36 at a granite fabricator. The man thought I would not be able to do anything with it (He was so wrong) and I thank him very much for my granite counter top. I cut it to fit the vanity, did the rock finish edging, and cut the hole for the sink in just over an hour. I had a budget of $900.00 for the bathroom. Doing all of the work myself with the exception of refinishing the tub I spent $846.98 to totally redo this hall bathroom. Could not have done it at all if I had to pay for demo and all of the instillations of medicine cabinet, counter, tile floor and shower, mosaic, built-ins, vanity, sink, toilet, faucets, Just the custom mosaic would have taken my budget.

  • Niches Bring a Little Bling to a Small Master Bath, Drizzled with chocolate accents against a calm neutral pallet made this little master bathroom large in size. Originally, the bathroom had wide red and pink striped walls and a country border around the tub. When we didn't have the budget for a complete bathroom makeover we attempted to remove the stripes and paint the walls red. But the drastic change came after we picked out a neutral color pallet, added splashes of glass mosiacs and chocolate browns, created some custom niches throughout the space for hidden surprises, and made a large custom mirror. We used large rectangular tiles that looked like expensive travertine. The cheap sliding glass shower door was replaced with an extremely tall nearly frameless shower door. We added a glass pocket door for the entry and we took down the walls to the teeny water closet. Before pictures are at the end of the remodel pictures., Bathrooms Design

  • Small Master Bath Gets a Makeover!, We are in the middle of remodeling our small master bathroom. It is about 10 by 5 feet. We will be replacing the tub/shower with a walk in & tiled shower, getting a whole new vanity, installing recessed lighting and re-texturing/painting all the walls. • Metallic Butterflies vs. Gold Speckled Countertops, We moved into a house that was built in 1972. It hasn't been updated since the trendy owners/builders put up the gaudy butterfly wallpaper and installed fluorescent bar lights on the sides of the mirror. (You should see the harvest-gold festival in our kitchen...)

We would LOVE to renovate this space into a contemporary guest/master bath if such a quandary is possible., Bathrooms Design

  • Beachy Bath Retreat, Welcome to my beach retreat! I don't have a beach house, so I created the feel in my bathroom. A stroll on the beach collecting beach glass is my ultimate relaxation. So, my beach glass collection was the inspiration for my personal "spa". I used frosted glass mosaic as the accent for the walls. On the floor is a tumbled marble mosaic with the frosted glass squares randomly scattered through out- just like finding glass on the beach! The vanity is the piece de resistance. The base is actually a sofa table and the counter top is custom concrete. I was so lucky to find a local concrete artist who made my vision into a reality. He created a work of art by incorporating glass from my collection into the concrete. Take a look at the close ups, it's really breathtaking. I smile every time I look at it! The counter top really sets off the frosted glass vessel sink. All of the metal is satin nickel., Bathrooms Design

  • Small Bath Remodel , Our small narrow bathroom was in need of a serious remodeling. We gutted it and spent 8 months carefully putting it back together! We saw the wainscot idea and are so happy we used it. We like the contrast of the dark paint color and the white wainscot and white fixtures. We used chrome as the accent for towel bars tp holder light fixtures etc. Using a pedestal sink instead of a vanity give the illusion of more space in a very narrow bathroom. , Bathrooms Design

  • River Rock Shower Takes World's Smallest Master Bath From Blah To Spa, This tiny master bathroom (less than 36 s.f.) in a 1962 colonial ranch style home was considered luxurious with its turquoise high gloss tile and custom site built mahogany cabinets. But a shower pan leak led to an inspired makeover with a black river rock corner shower and dramatic glass sink to provide a lot of visual impact. The clean, simple lines and use of natural materials such as the travertine floor, and neutral background colors allow the feature elements to shine while staying within the owner's very tight budget., Bathrooms Design

  • At The Beach, Small master bathroom with claw foot tub and large shower. It has been tiled with sand tones and accent pieces of blue wave glass and mini mosaic tiles to mimic waves breaking at the beach. I fell in love with the Sea turtles as soon as I saw them. The turtles were added as a focal point. Moved the vanity outside the main bath area, into a reach in closet and also tore down walk in closet for dressing area. , Bathrooms Design

  • Downstairs shower room, We started out with fixing the shower drain...long story short...we gutted the 3rd bathroom in our house. We replaced the old corner shower unit with a 31/2' X 5' full ceramic walk-in shower and did extensive tile work on the walls and floor. We still have to install some decorative glass block for the shower but it's functional and we're just using a curtain for now., Bathrooms Design
