We decided to wait to find out the sex of our baby until the birth, so we needed a neutral nursery. We knew we wanted a forest theme but the challenge was to make it welcoming for a boy or girl. Well, we had a boy!

An outdated, dilapidated, co-op kitchen is transformed to a modern functional space. The design was done by the home owner. The renovation was done by Mullings Restoration & Development. We removed an ugly closet to make space for the fridge and we also relocated the sink, stove and dishwasher.

My Winter Forest is being watched over by the Christmas Angel. This was made with real Christmas tree clippngs that were sprayed with snow. I wanted it to have a cold frozen look. I used icicles to make it look like there are frozin icicles hanging from the "trees". Even my reindeer are frosted. Reminds me of a time gone by. I love the natural look.

This renovation involved a conversion from a cast-iron tub to a custom ceramic shower which features brushed nickel fixtures, a recessed ceramic shelf, rain shower head, and a fold-able shower seat. The walls feature 12 x 16 ceramic with a mosaic deco tile at the mid-section and upper-third of the wall. The renovation was performed by Mullings Restoration & Development.

Our home is on a wooded hill and the surrounding "yard" is all slopes except for one area. There are large boulders and all sorts of rock all around the property. The views are gorgeous to a southern girl who loves the snow.

My initial concept for this space began with my desire to make it organic and natural. Also I wanted to juxtopose both modern and antique elements. First I found organic bedding with a forest theme that I loved and worked my color palette off of that (green, orange and brown. All furniture is reclaimed, or antique that I repainted or cleaned. I used low VOC paints and created a graphic mural of a tree and birds and other animals. The mural was inspired by the bedding, but also by the graphic cutout wood mobile of birds in a tree. Although I knew that I was having a boy, I preferred decor that was more unisex.

This is our favorite room in the house because the lighting is so versatile and the color is soothing. Of course it helps that the bed is the most comfortable one I've ever had!

This room, for our son, was inspired from an island treehouse in the jungle from a movie. We used bamboo blinds on the walls and as a border around the room. Many of the "wild" animals surrounding the room can be found at the local zoo. The wall opposite the bed is a bamboo wall with an open window with an ocean view. Also the "roof" to the treehouse has a canopy laid out over the top of bamboo poles. I will upload a few more pictures soon.
