  • Under Starry Skies Above..., Updated: Our little piece of Heaven on earth. We really enjoy sitting on the front porch with an ice tea & love the calmness of living in a rural area. Peaceful!! Some may think that we have too many plants but it's what we enjoy doing & Summertime ends when Winter season hits & the porch is cleared off to accomodate the weather.

The above title is taken from an old song called; Don't Fence Me In by Roy Rogers & The Sons of the Pioneers. When we moved to IL from CA in '95 this is the song that inspired us. Our place may not be outstanding, compared to other places, but we love it! Too many times a few people might not appreciate just what they have or can't always see the potential. Our property IS lots of work to keep it nice but well worth it. Please ENJOY your visit to our place & Happy Trails~, Home Exterior Design

  • No Back Yard - So We Made the Roof a Garden!, We live in the city! Our backyard is another building. Except a small patch of grass in the front of our house...we have no yard at all! So we took over the roof! We planters in containers! The lower roof area is devoted to vegetable gardening. The upper area is for relaxing and perennial plants. Besides flowers we have fruit trees, grape vines and more! We have a seating area and a dining area. Eventually we will add a pergola for the wisteria and winter hardy kiwi vines to climb. We added a drip watering system this year!, Gardens Design

  • Early morning coffee on the patio...., This is my wonderful patio I wanted to share. The guy who built it, sketched the design on a napkin, the next day we left on vacation and came home to find this. We absolutely love it. It is also a great place for my flowers - away from the deer. My daughter said my flowers look like they are on steroids.

  • My Sanctuary, Have gardened since I was a child and nothing makes me happier than diggin' in the dirt! My cottage style gardens continullay expand and cover more than 1/3 of an acre so far!! I have started most everthing from seeds or cuttings and have 20 odd flats started in my dining room right now. Also have a large vegetable garden. Everyone looks forward to gifts of salsa and other goodies thru out the winter. I have created my own sanctuary and am so content to stay right here!! I have a sleeping porch that over looks the main garden and pond, This is the most peaceful setting I have ever enjoyed in all of my travels and am so blessed I live right in the middle of it., Gardens Design
