We recently (finally renovated / remodeled our master bathroom that had been sitting gutted since the day we bought our house - over 3 1/2 years ago. We finally were able to borrow the lump sum needed to do this massive makeover. The issue with the original bathroom - other than the fact that it was super dated (green wallpaper and yucky, was that the main drain was cracked and water was leaking to the floor below - into the walls and down to the floor. This is a second story bathroom and below it is the kitchen and dining room. Sadly the previous tenant was using the bathroom even with the broken drain pipes which had caused mold in the walls which we had to get professionally cleaned! Anyway, all that's in the past now and we have a fabulous modern (but comfortable master bathroom that feels like an expensive hotel / spa and it even has a view of the bay and golden gate bridge!
feel free to follow our blog for the rest of our adventures in home makeover here - http://fixerwithaview.wordpress.com - we even have a blog section about how we almost got onto HGTV's curb appeal - shot the reveal and everything before our project was cancelled.

From the "Floating Marble Vanity" to the Wall Mounted Duravit Toilet keeping everything off the floor was our Goal. The handpainted Hibiscus on the wall chandelier over the vessel sink and the "invisable drain" in the full walk in shower make this a clean and functional Powder Room.

Modern bathroom remodel including the new Kohler leaf sink and Kohler forte faucet. With a brown concrete countertop. Also used the new Kohler Expanse curved bathtub. The tiles on the floor are very large and I love!! The wall behind the vanity is also tiled along with the shower. ENJOY!

Odd thing to call a bathroom - but that is exactly what it is. This is the first of many must do projects. This bathroom dated back to 1981. Tiny shower oh and the shower was paneled in oak. You don't want to see what happens to oak after 25 years of showering. Hubby put in the oversized shower. Tiled almost everything. The freestanding basin stand was designed by us and made by hubby.

We completely gutted this large bathroom and made it into two separate areas - shower / toilet and vanity. We did the design ourselves, purchased all the materials off ebay or Craigs List, and hired a contractor for some of the labor.

Our master bathroom turns out to be the first complete room in our new house. It was inspired by a bathroom featured in a Kitchen and Bath magazine. The vanity and medicine cabinets were made by our cabinet maker (he is Amish and did a fantastic job on the cabinets he did for our kitchen, bathrooms, and family room. I wanted to copy what was done in my inspiration picture and do a vanity top that was stained. He originally told me it couldn't be done because the wood would not hold up to the water. Shortly after, I was at a neighbors house where I saw they had done exactly what I wanted to do. He used marine varnish on his vanity top, so now we were back to plan A. My husband was adamant about having a large shower. It is 4 X 7 and I call it "the car wash". The niche for shampoos holds a lot and they can't be seen from outside the shower. The bench is great....it is on the other end from "my side" of the shower, so I have a place to put my morning coffee and towel while I shower and they don't get wet. We each have our own set of rain showerheads and hand helds with temperature and pressure control for each set. The heated floor is covered by a ceramic tile that looks like slate.
