  • Where To Hang My Floating Shelves, I created a 36"x48" painting and bought 2 Ikea shelves that are about 43" in length but am unsure how to hang them. I'm thinking of returning to Ikea and getting more, in particular the 72" shelf. Looking for hanging ideas., Living Rooms Design

  • Master Bathroom with a View, We recently (finally) renovated / remodeled our master bathroom that had been sitting gutted since the day we bought our house - over 3 1/2 years ago. We finally were able to borrow the lump sum needed to do this massive makeover. The issue with the original bathroom - other than the fact that it was super dated (green wallpaper) and yucky, was that the main drain was cracked and water was leaking to the floor below - into the walls and down to the floor. This is a second story bathroom and below it is the kitchen and dining room. Sadly the previous tenant was using the bathroom even with the broken drain pipes which had caused mold in the walls which we had to get professionally cleaned! Anyway, all that's in the past now and we have a fabulous modern (but comfortable) master bathroom that feels like an expensive hotel / spa and it even has a view of the bay and golden gate bridge!

feel free to follow our blog for the rest of our adventures in home makeover here - - we even have a blog section about how we almost got onto HGTV's curb appeal - shot the reveal and everything before our project was cancelled., Bathrooms Design

  • Our Small Bathroom that has Function and Style, Our bathroom is not the smallest bathroom out there and we do have the same complaints that any other person would have about bathrooms. Storage is a big issue. I think with what we have done with it, it has turned out amazing for the time being! We installed a curved shower curtain rod to help make the shower seem bigger. Above the toilet we installed 3 floating shelves. Our window blinds and treatment, allows enough light to come in, while still maintaining the privacy we want. The light and airy color scheme is to keep the bathroom feeling like a calm and peaceful place. In our house we try to keep everything 'light' enough for my husband since he has visual problems. It seems to help him and I really enjoy designing with lots of bright and light colors!, Bathrooms Design

  • Baby's Nursery ' Star Serenity', Pastel colorblocked wall (subtle stimulation) 3 contrasting walls done in the same green (but half-cut) resulting in a softer shade in the same hue. Colors were matched to fabric. (A waffle weave textured polyester cotton. ) All painting and sewn accessories were done by myself. It is a tiny room and very serene. Floating shevles and a small accent carpet has since been added. (March 25th/08 -I have left this room up for reference of a 'color-blocked wall'. ), Nurseries Design

  • SMALL space cosmetic surgery - Guest Bath gets low cost face lift! , Context – Guest bath off the high contrast dark brown/white trim HALL space (with yellow and brown canvas artwork).

1. As with other rooms, haven’t found the right replacement LIGHTING to remove the builder grade fixture.
2. Color is an improvement over all white (see B4), but considering other shades of green. I love the immediate satisfaction of changing a paint color…
* I welcome ideas on where to look for lighting that’s my style (your space?) and other paint concepts.

What’s changed from BEFORE (shown, including progress photos):
- As throughout the home: faucet fixtures, added light dimmer, and exhaust fan timer
- Hardware - Cabinet, towel and TP holders
- Green Paint
- Floating shelves
- Frame added to mirror
- Art (with additional painted frame), Bathrooms Design

  • Our Modern Retreat - Clean & Modern, Keeping with our modern with an Asian touch we painted our bedroom a cool grey. Our furniture is all espresso with a blue glass top. Since we hung our TV over the dresser we used the mirror that came with it on the opposite wall. I love the white curtains. We feel like the room is very close to being "there" but is missing some finishing touches., Bedrooms Design
