We recently (finally renovated / remodeled our master bathroom that had been sitting gutted since the day we bought our house - over 3 1/2 years ago. We finally were able to borrow the lump sum needed to do this massive makeover. The issue with the original bathroom - other than the fact that it was super dated (green wallpaper and yucky, was that the main drain was cracked and water was leaking to the floor below - into the walls and down to the floor. This is a second story bathroom and below it is the kitchen and dining room. Sadly the previous tenant was using the bathroom even with the broken drain pipes which had caused mold in the walls which we had to get professionally cleaned! Anyway, all that's in the past now and we have a fabulous modern (but comfortable master bathroom that feels like an expensive hotel / spa and it even has a view of the bay and golden gate bridge!
feel free to follow our blog for the rest of our adventures in home makeover here - http://fixerwithaview.wordpress.com - we even have a blog section about how we almost got onto HGTV's curb appeal - shot the reveal and everything before our project was cancelled.

As a 1st floor bathroom it should make an impression on people using it. It took awhile to coordinate and it all came together when I found the perfect faucet. It has a Corian top that looks like cement, a floating gloss laminate cabinet with under lighting, and all metal is brushed stainless including the under mounted sink.

This recent modern family room renovation done by my partner and myself . The overall look we were trying to achieve was a modern light monochromatic feel. Vinyl tile, silestone counter top, floating cabinets, wine cooler and beverage cooler, stainless steel bar sink, brushed nickle hardware, and flor carpet tile help make up this space.

I have a problem how to decorate my fireplace mantel. The mantel is my most difficult place to decorate for me and ours just never feels right.
I wish I could do more with it if the television is not on there, but my husband wants it there so he can watch while in the dining-kitchen area.
I tried putting some knick knacks already with the "turquoise, lime green and neutral color" theme in mind to match the design with the rest of the design in our very small narrow living room, but I always wonder if I'm doing it the "right" way because it still doesn't look good or pleasing to the eye to me.
Also, do you have any suggestion what to put on top of the floating cabinet beside the fireplace? I hate the said cabinet but it serves the purpose of storing the cable box and other wirings.
Thanks you very much in advance for your all help/advices.

It's been six days and I did it! Well, almost 100%. My sister came today and was welcomed to Kentucky by family and a beautiful guest room!! I didn't finish the curtains - there's still a bit of sewing left, the light fixture isn't finished and the art work above the headboard isn't finished. But, it looks absolutely fabulous in there! I am really happy with "making it work". I ended up spending $38 on L-brackets, picture hanging supplies and curtain fabric. I wish I could have spent zero dollars but I caved! Let me know what you think!
Here is what I wrote on December 9th:
I'm challenging myself to re-do this entire room and make it finally fabulous! We've lived here for almost 3 years and I've been so obsessed about a remodel that has never come that my guest room has only been slightly functional - AND UGLY! I don't love everything about it but I'm challenging myself to make it beautiful! My sister arrives on December 15th and will be here for her 27th birthday and Christmas! I must make this room say "welcome and we love you!" Here's the hitch - I have zero dollars to spend. Christmas is upon us and I have a wonderful almost 2-year-old son and 4 fabulous nieces and nephews to buy for. I can do it! My husband is going to kill me for taking on yet another "project"! But, nevertheless, between naptime, bedtime, and a few hours of sesame street.....HERE I GO!! Any suggestions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

This space did not exist when we bought our histroical Tudor. This was taken from another bedroom space making room to tuck this small bath along with the sitting area and 2nd closet of the master bedroom

This space is our living/dining room. The walls are a darker beige. I have a golden color in the kitchen/dining room. I would love to get a new couch set.

This tiny sitting room is the formal iving room in our home. To make more space in the dining room I moved my china cabinet into this room and it really showcases my chna and glassware. For my husband's birthday I bought a writing desk and created a nice corner for him to read draw and relax.

We are nearing the completion of our kitchen remodel. The old kitchen had 80s-style oak cabinets sky blue counters and a different layout. The house is a colonial farmhouse and for the new kitchen we wanted something open and airy that mixed sleek and modern elements with warm and more rustic materials.
