When my husband and I found out we were having a little girl, my wheels immediately started spinning and construction began! I have always loved wainscot, so that was the first DIY project my husband tackled. I maximized space by setting the armoire caddy-corner with a changing station to the left and the crib directly on the opposing wall. The glider and ottoman is also caddy corner next to the changing station. I found an antique mahogany two-tier table with scallop edging from Craigslist -$50- and refinished it in a black pearl stain with gold etching and tulip flowers with the letter M for Baby Madison. The picture-in-picture was a design inspiration that my mom found in an interior decor magazine. We replicated the idea, wallpapering each of the inside panels bordered with molding, and placed vintage pictures that have been with my family for several years. On the 'changing station' wall, the other two picture-in-pictures have wired vintage figures of a manikin silhouette and Eiffel tower for that Parisian flare. My mother-in-law made all the bedding, drapery, and diaper hanging sack from fabric we picked out a local fabric warehouse in Buena Park, CA. The crib cornice and curtain tie backs were a great find at the Princess Canopy Shop on Etsy. They are stained in black pearl with brass/gold etching. My husband designed the M font and worked with an online wood-work company to produce the finished product at a greatly reduced price -under $40-. I bought the hanging chandelier on closeout with black shades and matching pink bows were tied using the leftover pink satin bedding fabric. The furniture is by Munire, purchased at USA Baby and the lamp was purchased on clearance at Tuesday Morning -$50-. I shopped around for the rug after finding that on an interior design website, I bought it for 50% less than retail from BoldRugs.com after they price matched another competitors price. The crib mobile was purchased on target.com.

Functional kitchen that's sparks. Black galaxy granite countertops and floors complimented by copper glass mosaic on the backsplash finishes the look of luxury. Walls are finished with venetian plaster and green stone that captures a rustic feel. Recessed lighting and sleek chandielier provides elegant light source. Upper cabinets of 40" provides ample storage. Oversized window allows for natural flow of sunlight.

I have bought tons of paint samples and have yet to decide on a color. I am at a loss with what color to lean towards. I am finding it hard with the counter tops, do I draw those colors out? What color would you go for? Also my family room is right off the kitchen and is pretty open to the kitchen. It is a sage color, do I treat both rooms as a whole or separate (meaning do I match the colors?
Any tips or suggestions would be great. Thanks!

I need ideas I am stuck on these 2 areas. I have a 12"5 x11"5 diningroom with 2 windows and 9 or 10 foot ceilings! I am not sure what color to paint it. I was thinking red on top and put up some chair railing and brown or chocolate on the bottom. I am also considering a new table round maybe! I like the rustic country look with little clutter and clean lines. My problem is the living room is the next room over and is painted Maple Glaze behr paint then there is a entry front door, closet and the stairs. So if I paint the entry way one color and the diningroom another will it look like too many colors or should I paint the entry way same as the dinningroom?

This is our first house. We just closed and moved here Sept 11th from a 1,000 sq foot townhouse. We've tried to focus our little bit of improvement money on the areas inside that need it most. We have not done anything to the outside of the home, except I put some pumpkins on the front porch. Going to add a little more seasonal decorations next weekend.

My brother, sister and I redid my kitchen. The cupboards were painted and two reed glass inserts were added as well as a market type coffee center. A new sink and faucet, black trim around the backsplash, lighting, recovered barstools and a few new accents helped the kitchen fit in better with the dining area and great room.

Recently began updating our decor on a very tight budget. Involving most;y paint and reusing accessories I already had. I am replacing drapes in many spaces. as well.

This is our master bedroom. We just bought our first house and are looking for suggestions on how to decorate. The only problem is that we have two rather large dog cages in the room with us and they seem to take over the space.

This nursery is for our first baby, a girl who should be arriving in a couple of months. We tried to keep in gender neutral so we could reuse it for future children.
