  • My Cottage Garden Filled With Antiques, I love spending time out here reading and having my morning coffee and night time adult beverage. Anyone care to join me. We give garden tours. I love it in the spring, however the summer has lots of flowers. The downside is in the Fall and Winter it doesn't look so inviting., Gardens Design

  • Japanese Inspired Patio, Our small back patio used to be referred to as an outdoor jail cell. HOA gray, cement gray, way too much gray. We started by covering the unsightly old cement patio with red pavers. For drainage, we left a "pathway" (old underlying cement patio) along the length of the house, to which we stained black. The fence art is merely plywood that we cut, screwed to the fence, and painted. The art and inclusion of patio furniture and plants, transformed the patio into what we consider another room of the house., Patios & Decks Design

  • Modernist Mother-in-Law's Apartment, My home was built in 1950 and included a detached carport with a large two-room workshop. In January of this year, I embarked on a project to build a completely self-contained apartment for myself on the existing slab of the carport/workshop and invited my daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons to move into the main house. The new apartment was immediately dubbed "The Modernist Nest" by a fellow blogger and "Grammo's Little House" by my grandsons.

It took three months to complete the construction and a couple more months to landscape, but I'm finally in and enjoying my new 676 sf nest-space very much., Other Spaces Design

  • Addie's Garden, This is my daughter Addison's nursery. We decided to go with a kind of "Bird Garden" because it incorporated the colors we wanted to use (hot pink light pink and celery) Plus: it was something she could grow with (rather than something only for babies). I hand painted all the murals in the room along with the art hanging on the walls. , Nurseries Design

  • the other half of my small yard, This is the rest of my back yard garden. The addition of the poured cement patio really added to the useable space. I pressed palm leaves into the wet cement then stained the concrete. Love kind of a "wild" look. • 600 dollar throw away house garden, I bought a 600 dollar house marked for demolition. It is small but very charming and has incredible details from long ago building practices. The foundation is hand laid tooled rock and the siding is cedar clapboard, well it was under nasty green asphalt siding! The yard is immense, it came with half an acre of overgrown weeds, grass and rotten trees. From March til now, here is what I have been doing..., Gardens Design
