We really enjoy cooking in this space. The Brazilian Cherry floors are continued in the kitchen. We have added two Afghan wool carpets to add color and warmth. The counters are granite. The cabinets run floor to ceiling and are a light colored solid wood. We think the best feature of the kitchen is the lighted,top cabinets. This kitchen has lots of light with two pendant lights over the island, can lights throughout, halogen lighting under the cabinets and led lighting under the footer of the cabinets that shows off the beautiful floors. The appliances are all stainless with a double oven, convection and conventional. The large island includes a gas stove top as well as cabinets and shelves for storage. We also have a farmer sink that is deep and very functional. The large windows and French doors leading to the deck let in lots of light. There is lots of storage space but the walk in pantry is a bit small. Finally, the crumb vacume feature makes cleaning up small messes a breeze.

We were going to wait until next year to find the fence of our dreams but one of our neighbors had a little accident. Well we didn't want to waste any money (even a little bit on that old fence so we spent a Sunday tearing out what he crashed (plus a section, planted some shrubs, potted some grass, used some left over pickets to replace rotted ones and painted it. We spent $700.00 but got a totally different look. In fact I had to search for before pictures because I hated the fence so much. Someday we may still get the dream fence but we're good for a few years.

Mission Style

Country Style Mission Kitchen. We have been renovating our 1950's Stone Ranch house for almost six years. The fun part of remodeling is beginning with now being able to decorate rooms. Our kitchen has Mission Oak style Cabinets. We opened up a side exterior wall to more than double the size of the room. This wasn't easy since the walls are constructed of two foot thick stone walls. We left some stone exposed and feel it looks good with oak cabinets. Over the years we purchased appliances at yard sales or clearance sales at home centers. These purchases were stored away as we worked on the home. Now as we slowly complete the renovation we are unpacking those boxes of sale items. I have posted photos taken recently. You will notice was still have some finishing up to do like casing around windows & doors. We are excited to have a "real" kitchen to cook in again!

I was 8 months pregnant when I began painting it. This was my favorite project because it was the first time I got to create a project for my own child.

1920 Farmhouse Kitche...

This is our "new" 1920 Sears & Roebuck kit house in almost original condition. Kitchen has original wall sink and NOTHING else. Not a single cabinet. The family used a woodburning cookstove until 1984! (Thus the soot stains on every wall surface. After that the bachelor farmer used a microwave to cook his meals. Kitchen is approximately 15' x 13' and contains 5 doors and 2 windows. We're hoping to redecorate in an authentic 1920's style using green products. Ideas?

We live in a very rural community so I am from a farming family. We decided to give our little man a farm nursery since his Pa is a farmer. We painted the walls a dark barn red hung denim curtains and found old prints with farm themes. We think it's very fitting for our little Ev & his Pa can't wait for him to grow up to be another cow-wrangling tractor driving man!
