  • Fine Lake home "not" so fine! We need HELP with color., Our house needs a new look! What color should we paint the window trim, the decking, and handrail. The house needs some character with landscaping as well. Also looking for advise on decorating the deck with outdoor patio lights and furniture, ect. We feel that the house is too bland and it needs some character. We live in a house that is 1,600 sq. ft. on the main level, and 1,200 sq. ft. on the lower level. It has a light grey vinyl shake siding called "weathered white". The windows are trimmed out in cedar painted white. It has double hung white windows, and two white french doors facing the lake. The lakeside is considered the front. There is a front deck that wraps around to the back of the home and it is a grey Trex maintenance-free decking. The deck railing is cedar painted white with aluminum spindals. The gutter is 6 in., 1/2 round, galvalium. There is a detached garage with the same siding, trim, and gutter. There is no lanscaping to speak of. We are desparately needing advise on how to create a shabby chic look, that is fun, and inviting, but yet elegant. , Home Exterior Design

  • Mighty Master, We love relaxing and enjoying this space! When we moved in to the house this room was lime green with a jungle theme. We painted, installed new curtain rods, blinds, window treatments, and crown molding. Then we put in dark brown furniture and accent pieces and finished it off with very simple accessories. , Bedrooms Design

  • What A Dramatic Difference. . . Right? (Befores and Afters), Space Description: Originally my Grandparents 1970's "Vacant" home, I, a single 23 year old guy, bought my house in 2008 and it was a dump in need of a serious remodel. Though the projects never seem to be completly over, I demolished the entire interior of the house and things have turned out amazing. The most significant change made in the kitchen was removing the wall between the living room and kitchen. This allows there to be one large open concept space rather then 2 separate rooms.

Featuring Select 6x24 Veincut Travertine on the floor and a Classic Splitface Mosaic, uniquely found at Old World Stone Imports, people that come in the kitchen can't help but awe. The Counters are Blue Pearl Granite with a chiseled edge to tie in with the the rustic 3D Backsplash. A simple but beautiful trick that I have learned, when it comes to windows in the kitchen, is to simply frame them in Travertine moldings, in this case the Classic Alpha. This allows the window to appear almost as an ever changing picture.

I had custom Cabinets created so that they were designed exactly as I wanted them to be done. The main stain that I picked is also the stain used throughout the entire house on all of the moldings. This allows a simple accent that flows and creates uniformity throughout the entire house. On the island I chose to do a simple black wash to create a unique feature different from the rest of the kitchen as an accent.

After removing the horrible wallpaper I chose a simple yet traditional beige paint color. Once again this paint color can be found throughout the majority of the house. What do you think of me painting the Main Kitchen walls a classic Country Golden yellow? Though the deck door is not perfect I changed it from its 1970's green to a much more modern simple white doorway just by using some paint.

If you like any of the products show visit my works website and I would be glad to help you create the kitchen of your dreams. www.OldWorldStoneImports.com, Kitchens Design

  • Lake House Living Room, This is our newest project, little by little we are finishing off what we envisioned. The living room in the lake house needed to be relaxing, inviting, warm and modern at the same time so we mixed a few elements (like wall color, clean line sofa and rustic wood stove) to achieve a sophisticated and inviting look for our space. , Living Rooms Design

  • Creating a Fall Mantel that is a little Rustic but still Elegant, I've created this display on my mantel to show that it is possible to mix items that are considered rustic like pinecones and a antiqued pumpkin with glittery leaves and a glass mosaic pumpkin. Using the burnt oranges, golden yellows, and rusty reds of fall, a display can look cohesive if done correctly. Everyday objects like vintage baskets and metal lanterns turn into fall decorations when combined with some leaves and berries. One of the secrets to this look is using different textures and putting the decorations on different levels. Even the mirror has been used to showoff a beautiful wreath. I love that all the things that I love can be combined into one display and look complete!, Holidays Design

  • Eclectic Elegance, My bedroom was a dark nightmare before. I only wish I had pictures so that you all could see the major transformation that it has seen. I was a dark maroon red color before - on all four walls - with a bright white ceiling. The bed was placed right in front of the door and it was the first thing you hit when you entered the space. I had too much furniture in the space, so I un-cluttered, re-arranged and spruced up my space.
The walls are now a soft blue-green with a light blue ceiling. Crown molding was added for a more elegant look. A wicker chair was added from Peir 1 and a dresser and nightstand was removed. A soft grey diamond patterned silk lines the window with a simple rod at the ceiling for added heigth. Placing eclectic items around the room moves the eyes up to the ceiling and back down. And the darker color of the furniture keeps the eye moving all around the room. This design took place in less than a week!
(The only thing missing in the pictures is the new chandelier that I refurbished and painted white.), Bedrooms Design
