  • Owl Curtain Inspiration, The inspiration for this room came from a Target shower curtain. I liked the curtain so much I bought 2 to hang in the guest room as curtains. When we found out we were pregnant I thought it would be a perfect theme for the room. It has whimsical trees and owls on it. It could be gender neutral, but turned out to be a great boys room. I pulled all the colors from the curtains. Grandma also added a border to make them longer and wider for the giant window. We used 3 curtains for the window and then 2 more for the closet. We took the doors off to put a dresser and changing pad in the closet. The room also has to serve as a guest room, so we needed to save space. We have a daybed in the room for guests and plenty of room in the closet and dresser for storage. Grandma also recovered the glider in a wonderful green color to match. Everything came together wonderfully., Nurseries Design

  • Big Boy Adventurer Bedroom with Reverse Stencil Dresser, In anticipation of his baby sister's moving into the nursery, we created a big-boy bedroom for my son using colorful patterns and whimsical details. Some of the items moved with him from the nursery; others were thrifted; others were purchased new and one iconic feature, a reverse-stenciled dresser, was DIYed. The best feature of this room is that in addition to everything being toddler/preschooler accessible the design is both fun for a little boy and beautiful for his parents., Boys' Rooms Design

  • Our little dude's ranch!, We chose a cowboy theme for our son's nursery. I did a faux blue jean painting technique on the walls. We installed a chair rail around the room, which I stenciled colorful cowboy pictures above. My mom sewed the window treatments and viola - a fun and inviting baby boy's room was born!, Boys' Rooms Design

  • Parris anyone?, My 15 year old wanted a more grown up room, so down came the yellow and blue walls, the Justin posters, the flower wallies. I started with her idea of a Parris theme, and worked around a beautiful dressing table we found. I spent a small fortune (for me) on her curtains from another redo of her room so I had to try and fit them in by adding spots of pink around the room. I took down her ceiling fan and added the new light fixture. Because we buitl the bed in the unused attic space, I felt it needed something to extend into the room, so I used a chaise instead of a chair. I didn't want everthing just lining the walls. I do think it could use a bigger area rug, but I have to stick with something that can be thrown in the washer when needed. I wanted it to be taseful, worried about being tacky. I thought about black stipes for the walls but thought I would quit while I was ahead. Are there too many efflel towers?, Girls' Rooms Design
