We recently (finally renovated / remodeled our master bathroom that had been sitting gutted since the day we bought our house - over 3 1/2 years ago. We finally were able to borrow the lump sum needed to do this massive makeover. The issue with the original bathroom - other than the fact that it was super dated (green wallpaper and yucky, was that the main drain was cracked and water was leaking to the floor below - into the walls and down to the floor. This is a second story bathroom and below it is the kitchen and dining room. Sadly the previous tenant was using the bathroom even with the broken drain pipes which had caused mold in the walls which we had to get professionally cleaned! Anyway, all that's in the past now and we have a fabulous modern (but comfortable master bathroom that feels like an expensive hotel / spa and it even has a view of the bay and golden gate bridge!
feel free to follow our blog for the rest of our adventures in home makeover here - http://fixerwithaview.wordpress.com - we even have a blog section about how we almost got onto HGTV's curb appeal - shot the reveal and everything before our project was cancelled.

Over the 100 Years that our house has been alive, our current master bath has had some stories, and they were told 3 months ago when we gutted the entire space. Once a Parlor with a secret window that caught on fire, now a beautiful spa- inspired master bath, at least we think so anyway. But we'd love to know what you think! comments are much appreciated!

My master bath is a little on the small side, but because (like most of my redo's I really couldn't add onto the house I had to make do with what I had. I will admit there were a few "lessons learned" on this job-as far as time and cost are concerned, but I am extremely happy with the use of space. It is just as comfortable, and just as luxurious as most hotels which was my primary goal with this project.

Updated a worn-out 80s vintage bathroom with single pedastal sink and created a cottage chic, beachy-vibe bathroom with bright paisley wallpaper, wainscotting, and double cane vanity with white carerra marble top. Added two wall mounted medicine cabinets for extra storage and eco-friendly dual-flush toilet!

The Master Bath in our new home has potential. We love the whirlpool bath, double walk-in closets, large vanity, skylight (and the natural light from it, and the seperate lavatory area. The major problem is the wall paper and builder grade touches. The color of the doors (closet and entry, cabinets, built in storage are all cream; like all the trim in our home (which works fine in the rest of the house but in this room it is too much cream for me!

Our townhome's master bath was made in the 80's....and had not been redone since! It had a small bath/shower unit that looked like an irish springs soap bar, a single vanity and a wall mirror. It was a hidden and used as a junk closet for a few years there out of embarrassment... We began working on it in April. ("we"=my husband.
We found a self-enclosed steam shower unit from a local dealer advertising on Craig's list. The dealer was trying to clear a showroom of 2008 units. While there, we found a modern double vanity with vessel sinks for less than $800....in addition, found a jacuzzi tub....for a steal. We were on a roll off of Craig's list, where we found a nice low-profile (working, not cracked toilet for about $50 (changed the seat :..., and also found bamboo hardwoods for less than $60 to cover our entire <100 square feet master bath. We picked up a mirror from Ikea for less than $60, and there we go! Our pendants came from home depot and my husband put in recessed lighting on a dimmer. I found the fixtures off of West Elm's clearance "aisle" off their website.
My husband did all the plumbing (copper, PVC, hardwooding, and crown molding (unfinished at the time in the pictures by himself during his off-time from work. We love our new bathroom!!!

We remodeled our 80s Master Bathroom using Natural Mountain colors and textures. We used a slate looling porcelain tile for the flooring and lighter tiles for the surround and shower walls. We used modern fixtures and glass shower enclosure. There are 2 showerheads, a Rain overhead and another shower head from the wall (not pictured in this large 5' by 6' shower. The original bathroom did not include a separate toilet room, this was added as part of the renovation.

Took our old dingy bathroom which had a barn wood panel wainscotting, peeling ceiling, stained linoleum floor... to a luxurious, relaxing and bright retreat. Who'd ever want to leave this bathroom when you have all the necessities around you. Looking for suggestions for window treatments and what to hang above toilet or wall opposite toilet.

Large Master bath with Big RED tub. We want to keep the tub. I'm thinking French Country (Red/white/cream Toile DH thinks NO! Need ideas for facelift remodel...no new furniture or any major renovation. We'll remove wallpaper and probably paint. The banister where the towels are is a stariway to our kitchen.

This redesigned bath was originally plane and rather boring. We added a wood crafted antique style double sink vanity with new silver trimmed mirrors aged pewter faucets matching aged pewter hardware throughout. Classic rustic lighting fixtures above the sink with marbled glass. It has been painted a satin yellow "Tabby" with Dutch Boy paints. Accented with bronzed shelving orange hugh towels and accessories and classic fantasy art works. Simple yet elegant with a classic touch.
