  • Small Garden, Small yard, three female dogs, l had to be creative. I used to have a lawn, however the female dogs made short use of it. I discovered the decomposed granite and it works fine and saves water. I had to put the doggie gates around the flower beds to keep the dogs from digging. Using the big pots also allows me some decoration without the dogs ruining it., Gardens Design

  • Wide Open Spaces... Yawn, This is our living room. Put new hardwood floors in about a year ago. Furniture and all wall hangings were gifts or items from past homes, giving this room a hodge-podge feel. The one big couch is great for movie watching but this rooms lacks design. What do you think we should do? Seating does become limited when there are numerous people over. The coffee table is so far that one's feet can't reach it. The mantle piece does not stand out as much because of the lighter color, although I am afraid of using darker colors. Living room does open to kitchen, so we are in need of an open flow and easy transition between the two spaces. I appreciate your time! We do like wine-country and Italian inspirations for this room. Someday this room will no longer be the bore of the house. , Living Rooms Design

  • Dog Bath - Garden Planting Station, This is our new pet washing and planting table. The walk up ramp serves as the perfect solution to bathing furry pets (dogs and cats), with out the back breaking, knee crunching experience of lifting the animals into tubs and small pools. The screen at the end of the station is great for filtering the dirt from planter boxes, not to mention cleaning the silt from our newly polished rocks, rock polishing hobby. , Other Spaces Design

  • Tropical "Staycation" in Sunny Florida, We have almost finally completed the renovation of our backyard "staycation" patio area, to enjoy in sunny Florida. We live in a gated subdivision where unfortunatly our lot backs to another street with houses. We wanted to make our backyard area a place we could use as an extension to our house. One of our main concerns was adding pricacy for ourselves, and also the neighbors that directly back to our house. I think we've finally achieved our goal. The only thing remaining is to add lights for the evenings, and lastly a outside fireplace.

  • Dog-Proof Fern Garden and Fountain, My fern garden in my backyard, complete with new mulch, stone pathway, my custom, one-of-a-kind fountain with hidden reservoir, and the stars of the show, my plethora of Ostrich Ferns. I own both a Saint Bernard and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, so the challenge was in finding a fencing solution to keep both out of my abundant ferns, but still allow me to enjoy the view. I found my fencing at Lowe's, and not only was it cost-effective, but it has withheld my ambitious escapologists (dogs) and has allowed me to install a water feature that hasn't become my dogs' drinking fountain. The ferns have grown in this corner, behind my 4-season porch, longer than I have owned the house. This Spring, I added the mulch, transplanted ferns from the whiskey barrel, run an outdoor outlet in the back of the garden, and installed a stone pathway leading to the fountain., Gardens Design

  • DYI B/YARD PATIO UPGRADE (1st Phase of Landscaping ProjectS. Front Yard Rock Garden to follow), We still have finishing details to do but thought I'd post this anyways. The climate I live in has four very distinct Seasons and the materials/shrubs chosen reflect necessity. I am not a Gardner or a Landscaper and this is my first DYI outdoor project. I've included six pictures that feature a partial progression of the upgrade with a small explanation on each. Would appreciate only 'constructive' criticism please. Thanks :), Patios & Decks Design
