  • We updated our Small Outdated Kitchen!, We'd love to put some work into our outdated kitchen but don't have a huge budget & would love some input on what to put our efforts towards. We love the red paint and have a black & ivory color scheme. Interested in painting the cabinets & replacing the countertops as well as possibly laying a lighter color hardwood flooring. Any suggestions on updates colors etc? What updates will we get our money back on when we go to sell?, Kitchens Design

  • small dining room, Our home is over 100 years old with a small dining area. There are french doors leading into the room and a set leading out of the room onto the deck and the room also has a large bay window. The floor tile is a butterscotch and the walls are creamy butter. Just purchased a dining table from craigslist (a great $100 find) and have black Xback chairs ordered from pottery barn. Still undecied to paint the trim a creamy white. Looking for some lighter drapes. I would love to hear all your suggestions on lighten up this room with a more airy feeling., Dining Rooms Design

  • Old World Dining Room - Chocolate Brown, Rich brown walls pop the classic white trim. The mahogany finishes show up much better in person - they do not disappear. Silk curtains framed antique letters and contemporary gray star fabric on chairs. I added crystals and shades to the over-scale chandelier. An empty antique frame hangs around a huge mid-18th century sconce. Another old sconce sits on an old Italian pillar. , Dining Rooms Design

  • No Bigger Than What We Need, I guess this could be described as an eat-in kitchen area. Our dining "nook" is located in the bay area of our house. Got a new table (actually has 4 chairs but I haven't put them together yet). We enjoy looking out over the neighborhood through these windows. This area also gets the most light so I have started fooling with a few plants here. Thanks for stopping by. , Dining Rooms Design

  • Long Awaited...New Country Dining Room Furniture, After 20 years of living with some ugly hand-me downs I finally got a new dining room set!! I'm going to paint the dining room and the adjoining living room. (Maybe green for the dining room and gold for the living room?) I also would like to get new curtainsbut I have no idea what to do with that bay window. It overlooks the pool and deck which is beautiful in the summer but not really in the winter. The dining room is very small. Any advice is welcomed!, Dining Rooms Design

  • Never Used Dining Room, The painters have arrived and the white will disappear. The dining room is an immediate right as you enter the home. The dining room is never used primarily because the breakfast area accommodates our dining needs and our guest always gravitate to this area. The two glass cabinets show case my art glass collection. There are so few walls available on the main floor that this was the only space available for the cabinets. The floors are maple, the cabinets are cherry, there is a bay window with window treatments I inherited from the previous owner (more white) and a light fixture centered on the ceiling but not to the table. I am having this light fixture moved and a medallion installed. , Dining Rooms Design

  • Chicago Great Room, My First Place - a vintage Chicago rehab. I had to stretch the budget and learn on the fly but I'm happy with the final product. It was very fun to pick out almost everything from scratch - although working w a non-accommodating developer was difficult. I left down the walls to one of the bedrooms so that I was able to create this "great room" type space in the middle of the city. It houses the living room dining area and kitchen. The fireplace is original dating back to the late 1800s., Living Rooms Design
