Our new kitchen was planned to improve the traffic flow, provide layered lighting and functional storage. Keeping cherry wood for the island yet lightening up the cabinetry on the perimeter opens up the room making it feel more spacious. The old peninsula created a bottle neck where everyone would congregate. Now the island separates the "cooks" designated area from the guest traffic flow to the water closet. The beautiful delicatus granite brought together the colors from the hard wood floors, the light cream distressed cabinets, the backsplash tile, the bronze hardware, and the silver of the the stainless steel appliances. The pull out pantry beyond the refrigerator was a bonus!

Spa like on a small budget, from old and plain. My son and daughter in law recently bought a new home. They asked me to redo their bathroom. They wanted shades of brown and that is what they got. It was a good size bathroom but it had a lot of wasted space. I gutted the room and while doing so I found an open space beside the tub in which I added a wonderful built in storage space. The tub was taken out and replaced with a shower. The counter site was moved to the side wall and doubled in size. The cabinets have tilt outs and the silent close feature. The cabinet on the right has a laundry shoot to the laundry room below. The cabinets and granite counter top were a wonderful find for their budget. They could have easily spent most of their budget on just the cabinet and counter top. The counter top is St. Cecilia with a beautiful edge and under mount sink. Everything in the bathroom is new and it was all done for $ 1,600.00. I love shopping for bargains. It really pays to shop around when doing a remodel.

The old kitchen in the 1962 rambler was so small I had to open the oven door from the side. There was only about 27" between the two small countertops and everytime I went into the kitchen I got claustophic. We knocked down all the walls between the kitchen, dining room and family room and now we have a bright open space that can handle lots of family and friends. Best of all my husband and I did the whole remodel ourselves.

We completely removed everything from the old kitchen down to the drywall and replaced it with solid maple cabinets, oil rubbed bronze knobs and pulls, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, new granite countertops, new travertine and glass tile backsplash, and new pendant, task and can lighting.

Well I designed this with the 2X3 piece of marble my customer gave me in Naperville IL. the modern flat black granite was not working in this traditional setting. Then the builder thought it would be ok to put a contrasting gold island top to set it all off.

Space Description: Originally my Grandparents 1970's "Vacant" home, I, a single 23 year old guy, bought my house in 2008 and it was a dump in need of a serious remodel. Though the projects never seem to be completly over, I demolished the entire interior of the house and things have turned out amazing. The most significant change made in the kitchen was removing the wall between the living room and kitchen. This allows there to be one large open concept space rather then 2 separate rooms.
Featuring Select 6x24 Veincut Travertine on the floor and a Classic Splitface Mosaic, uniquely found at Old World Stone Imports, people that come in the kitchen can't help but awe. The Counters are Blue Pearl Granite with a chiseled edge to tie in with the the rustic 3D Backsplash. A simple but beautiful trick that I have learned, when it comes to windows in the kitchen, is to simply frame them in Travertine moldings, in this case the Classic Alpha. This allows the window to appear almost as an ever changing picture.
I had custom Cabinets created so that they were designed exactly as I wanted them to be done. The main stain that I picked is also the stain used throughout the entire house on all of the moldings. This allows a simple accent that flows and creates uniformity throughout the entire house. On the island I chose to do a simple black wash to create a unique feature different from the rest of the kitchen as an accent.
After removing the horrible wallpaper I chose a simple yet traditional beige paint color. Once again this paint color can be found throughout the majority of the house. What do you think of me painting the Main Kitchen walls a classic Country Golden yellow? Though the deck door is not perfect I changed it from its 1970's green to a much more modern simple white doorway just by using some paint.

My first attempt at installing a granite countertop and granite vessel sink. This project was so much fun. I'm very please with my shower curtain I purchased 2 and cut the border off one and sewed it on the other to add lenght. I used the leftover paint from my kitchen in this space and it was just enough. I've not decided if I'm going to tile the floor or not. Still working on the artwork for the walls.

Kitchen previously had tile counters, and missing appliances (was foreclosed home. We replaced all countertops, added glass tile backsplash and extended bar counter another 6 inches. Butler pantry matches kitchen countertops and backsplash. New flooring continued into kitchen with 20" ceramic tile with 4" granite inserts and 4" baseboards.

Finally got rid of the kitchen I never liked to a kitchen I love. Guilty pleasure...the foot kick in the island for my central vac. No more bending over with a dustbin. Please share your comments. Brutal honesty is appreciated.

This bathroom desperately needed help. The bathroom is in a 70's house and is very small. The tile job is bad and the vanity is too large for the space. The tile has plastic wood trim and lots of caulk around it which makes me think that the tile job may be much worse than it looks on the surface. I am going to find out what lies beneath.
I striped most of the walls down to the studs and started installing my new blue bathroom. The mosaic tile took a while to put together. After that everything went up fairly easy. Replaced the vanity, counter, toilet, medicine cabinet adding trim around and to the ceiling. I added storage shelves recessed in the wall with trim to the ceiling to match the medicine cabinet and vanity, which I had added decorative wood to the door and drawers. The only thing that was not replaced was the tub which we had refinished to match the toilet and sink. The piece of granite for the counter was actually given to me as a 36 X36 at a granite fabricator. The man thought I would not be able to do anything with it (He was so wrong and I thank him very much for my granite counter top. I cut it to fit the vanity, did the rock finish edging, and cut the hole for the sink in just over an hour. I had a budget of $900.00 for the bathroom. Doing all of the work myself with the exception of refinishing the tub I spent $846.98 to totally redo this hall bathroom. Could not have done it at all if I had to pay for demo and all of the instillations of medicine cabinet, counter, tile floor and shower, mosaic, built-ins, vanity, sink, toilet, faucets, Just the custom mosaic would have taken my budget.
