  • Downstairs shower room, We started out with fixing the shower drain...long story short...we gutted the 3rd bathroom in our house. We replaced the old corner shower unit with a 31/2' X 5' full ceramic walk-in shower and did extensive tile work on the walls and floor. We still have to install some decorative glass block for the shower but it's functional and we're just using a curtain for now., Bathrooms Design

  • Super Mario Room, For my sons fifth birthday I surprised him with a Super Mario themed bedroom. He has a relatively small room, 11ft x 10ft, however I think it turned out ok. He loves it...I think it is a little busy, but my design sense is usually minimalistic so that could be why. My favorite part of his room is his newly organized closet, prior to the room makeover the majority of his toys were in the closet and the majority of his clothes were in the master closet, however now, with his new found freedom he is dressing himself without assistance (yeah). His favorite part of the room is his new reading bench. He still has a few toys in the room, however the majority of his toys are housed in the play area, I will post soon. I am not a huge fan of TVs in children's rooms (however my 16 & 17 year olds both have them) but I did concede and provided him with a small portable DVD player for the occasional use. Let me know what you think, I am still not sure if I love it., Boys' Rooms Design

  • Basement Face Lift, We just got done renovating our basement. We did not create any new rooms, just gave a nice face lift to a big space. Due to AC pipes and ceiling height, we could not put in a ceiling, Instead, we painted the existing structure and added lighting. It has a rustic yet cozy feel. Nothing fancy...just a little facelift. We use the space for working out, my workspace, hanging out, storage, and laudnry, so it is set up for all those purposes. The basement had no dry wall, no mantle, and black and white checked linoleum floors before we fixed it up. We are enjoying it! I have painted/repurposed all of the furniture except the dark wood dresser., Living Rooms Design

  • Spring Stoop, While living in Florida, I learned about container gardening. It was a great solution to add color to our house front or patio, without having to dig into the not so soft ground [mostly coral rock]. Over the years in Florida, I had grown and nurtured several plants, but because of state laws, I was unable to take any of the plants with me when we moved to Arizona. Although I gave away most of my plants to friends and family, I did keep several of the containers. Refreshing the containers with a quick cleaning & a fresh coat of paint helped spare the expense of having to start totally all over again. All I needed to do was invest in a few flowering plants to give our now stacked stone stoop a shot of color for Spring.

If you're renting, like we are, this is a great little Spring Spruce-up for outside, to welcome family home with color, as well as say "Happy Spring!" to your neighborhood.
