  • Deck off kitchen with Gazebo (All under $225), So I really don't want criticism on this one. It's not perfect I know but it honestly impresses a lot of people when they come over. They say it feels like an outdoor livingroom and that it's an amazing extention of our home. It's 1970's furniture I restored put an outdoor mat down and some plants. The furniture cost me under $200 with everything and the mat was $10!, Porches Design

  • Deck Delight - before and after, We bought our home with a huge dead empty backyard and put in a deck. Since these pics we have finished staining the post and added some more deck plants and metal wall art. We also added rope lighting that goes under the railing so at night there is a beautiful glow. Please give us your ideas as to what to add next., Patios & Decks Design

  • City Alley Deck Becomes Modern Oasis Phase #1, I'm blessed with a rather large garage top deck for the City of Chicago. Unfortunately, it's in an alley of electrical wires, parked cars, garbage cans and lots of neighbors across the way. So for phase #1 of designing my oasis in the city I blocked as much of the bad as I could and created a little visual interest with walls and a pergola and some fun lighting for evening get togethers. And I did the best I could to "frame the sky!" I will save money over the winter to do phase two of the project including a hot tub under the pergola, a fire pit, new furniture, a water feature and plants. Phase three of the project (outdoor kitchen) will come at a future date (unless I win the lotto sooner!!), Patios & Decks Design

  • My First Deck (All D.I.Y.), This was my first attempt at building a deck I liked the layout of the existing concrete patio but it was a smidge small in size and had no real shade in the evening. During the day there isn't a great place to soak up the sun either so I built a smaller seperate sun deck. This summer I hope to finish the landscaping and create a pathway to the sun deck from the main seating area., Patios & Decks Design

  • Serene + Functional = Well-Used Backyard, Our main outdoor dining table is just off a pretty garden area. The yellow daylilies (at left) are a lovely shade this year. The table and chairs are a Tropitone set we purchased in 2000 in Florida and had painted a dark bronze this year when we could not find anything that served the space better. The market umbrella is a 9 ft. sunbrella from an internet retailer in the color macaw., Patios & Decks Design
