  • Laundry Room , This dark orange laundry room looked like a messy closet. Now it looks like a built in hutch in a light, bright, organized clean room. It serves as a pass through from main house to basement apartment for my daughter, so it needed to be neat and pretty.

  • Romantic Bedroom, The walls have a glaze/rag treatment in amber and tan. The accent colors are rust red and sage green. The idea behind the style was old world romance. Some of the accessories bring in a rustic quality. (hopefully), Bedrooms Design

  • Kitchen, We swapped the kitchen and dining rooms in our 1926 home to improve the flow. My husband did all the work from installing travertine floors to making the cabinets in a community college class. We're still in need of finishing touches--cabinet molding. We love the dark paint so the walls recede and cabinets are featured., Kitchens Design

  • The Dark Room, We just bought a house and the living room is on the east side of the house. You would think that being on the east side, that we would have a nice bright living room in the morning, but that just isn't the case. As you can see from the photo's, the room is dark in the morning and even darker in the afternoon and we don't like it. The walls are a cream color with a hint of yellow and the feature wall is a rosy/brick red with the ceiling being a mustard yellow. We could use some decoration/painting ideas that would help to brighten up our space. Paint is an obvious step, but what colors should we use so that it looks brighter but not like a hospital? We are open to room modification or additions such as better blinds, lamps, etc. We could also use interior design help with furniture and placement ideas as we are still purchasing furniture and would love to hear some different ideas. Any help is appreciated!, Living Rooms Design

  • Cozy Movie Lounge, A smallish space with low ceilings seemed perfect for a theater atmopshere. We moved the TV down and got a great couch. I was aprehensive about the dark color but I love blue so we went for it. We also kept the rough-sawn cedar panels and shelves and continued it in the trim. At some point we'll install a wall mount flat screen TV. Our inspiration piece was the Fosters beer light (our last name). I know it may seem tacky but we like it. Ideas for window treatments? , Basements Design

  • Going DARK!, My living room has been many colors. When we moved in it was bright yellow, and since then it has been a sort of sage green. I decided to go bold and chose a dark color called Juniper Bonsai. It immediately gave the room a real personality it never had before. Low lighting gives a sort of lounge feel and I'm still trying to make up my mind about how much I really like it., Living Rooms Design

  • HELP!! To Paint or not to Paint...the Fireplace, I really dislike the fireplace in our living room. It makes the room dark and old fashioned. We would like to redo the whole thing, however, we currently do not have the funds to do so. As a quick fix, I was thinking of painting the brick. Maybe a lighter color than the wall. Any suggestions?, Living Rooms Design
