  • Lakeside Living Room, Here's a photo of our living room. The view out the window is the lake. So we started by having these curtains custom made. We also designed this custom entertainment built-in. After that we're sort-of at a loss. We're thinking of a small L-shaped sectional and we've kept the walls white to highlight the dark hardwood floors. But we aren't sure how to make them look purposeful and not so much like builder's white. We need help!, Living Rooms Design

  • Family Room Repost, This room has been very tricky for me. I am still working on it. I am a traditional girl & my husband loved this Tuscan inspired house. Here is what I have done so far. I have 2 photos to still get framed for the far left wall. I'm waiting for one to get finished being painted. Still working on window treatments for the far right wall. I will add new pictures once the room is complete., Living Rooms Design

  • Living Room Update on a Budget, This living room used to have plain walls and carpet. We installed dark hardwood floors and painted the walls thyme green. With some inexpensive furniture this room in neutral tones the room is now very warm and cozy. I'm interested in knowing if the furniture should be laid out differently, mainly because the fireplace is not clearly visible given that it is on an angled wall., Living Rooms Design

  • I NEED HELP, This is my very first house. This is a living/dining room area with dark brown hand carved wood floors. My husband and I can't decide or agree on what colors to paint the walls to go with this dark wood. We like natural lighting, but color at the same time. We both love modern style but we desperately need help. It's so plain jane!!

  • Our Casual Open Dining Room, Our dining room is one of the first spaces you see when you open the front door. Part of an open floor plan that has a combined entry, formal living area and dining room, we made what some may view as an odd choice to close off an archway into the kitchen on the left side of the rear wall. We chose to do so for space planning and traffic flow purposes. The room itself is on the small side - really only 10 x 10 within the columns and can't comfortably accommodate an antique buffet or hutch as I hoped. So we wanted people to feel like they could walk around and sit within the entire space and not feel like they were in the line of traffic flow. We used mirrors (Ballard Designs) and preserved boxwood topiaries (Mills Floral) to decorate and reflect light. Our chandelier was a $100 antique mall find that just needed a coat of white paint. The table was a steal of craig's list at just $150. It needed to be stripped and re-finished but it was well worth it! You can see a peek of our kitchen nook (part of another open concept kitchen and family room area) and a pair of french doors to the central courtyard. We find this space with our slip covered chairs (which my mom covered) and antique flea market pieces highly functional and versatile for evenings in with friends no matter the season. Nothing is too precious to use; with washable linen and a waxed table top, I no longer find myself a slave to furniture polish or the dry cleaners!, Dining Rooms Design
