We recently (finally renovated / remodeled our master bathroom that had been sitting gutted since the day we bought our house - over 3 1/2 years ago. We finally were able to borrow the lump sum needed to do this massive makeover. The issue with the original bathroom - other than the fact that it was super dated (green wallpaper and yucky, was that the main drain was cracked and water was leaking to the floor below - into the walls and down to the floor. This is a second story bathroom and below it is the kitchen and dining room. Sadly the previous tenant was using the bathroom even with the broken drain pipes which had caused mold in the walls which we had to get professionally cleaned! Anyway, all that's in the past now and we have a fabulous modern (but comfortable master bathroom that feels like an expensive hotel / spa and it even has a view of the bay and golden gate bridge!

My master bath is a little on the small side, but because (like most of my redo's I really couldn't add onto the house I had to make do with what I had. I will admit there were a few "lessons learned" on this job-as far as time and cost are concerned, but I am extremely happy with the use of space. It is just as comfortable, and just as luxurious as most hotels which was my primary goal with this project.

This master bathroom started life as part of a boxy bedroom. Actually, the entire master suite (including the walk-in closet began as something else. We rearranged rooms to create an awesome master suite in our mid-century ranch home.

We used Marron Imperial marble for both vanities tops and the tub surround. As well we used small mosaic inserts in the flooring to tie it together. The front of the tub had a curve that was paneled to match the radius on the bath tub lacquered in the same color as the vanities and built-in. Custom cabinet work was done throughout the space to give it more of a furniture feel. The custom framed mirrors and chocolate walls pulled it all together!
