This is the last room that is left of our total house renovation. We bought a 1890's farm house that we have gutted and gutted again.... And so, here is the last room of the renovation process.....

We added 245 sq ft to our house, turning our galley kitchen in to one I can now easily cook and entertain in, without running in to someone! I am still adding finishing touches, but the big work is done! It only took about 3 months, but seemed liked forever!

We planned this kitchen to maximize storage space using spice pull-outs on each side of hood as well as designed large drawers vs. doors for maximum storage. We replaced the dated flourescent ceiling panel with rustic, hand-hewn beams. Stainless steel appliances and a large, center island allow for better flow. For interest, there is 3cm granite on island, 2cm granite on back counters, both with ogee edge.

My husband renovated our kitchen about three years ago when he bought our home right out of college as a project.
Those are Amish-made custom cabinets that we got made, stained and installed for $5,000 - oooohhhh I love the Amish!!
Never got around to doing a backsplash...if we weren't getting ready to move, we would probably install one.

Because you can see into the kitchen from my foyer, I didn't want a large refrigerator to be the first thing to be seen. A custom panel french door refrigerator flanked by pantries and custom door dishwasher feel like fine furniture. Commercial grade cook top is surrounded by beautiful cabinets and microwave is tucked out of sight under large island. Light and dark cabinets come together with a travertine look backsplash. The scrolled pendent lights add a softer old world look. Lots of recessed lights and undercabinet lighting brightens the dark granite countertops.

Our old kitchen was dark and dated to say the least. So, when thinking of a new look, we chose something completely different. Light Periwinkle Cabinets & Glass Backsplash set the pace for the "Costal Cottage" design we were aiming for with just a touch of whimsy & modern elements. Paint color is by Sherwin WIlliams: Bewitching Blue

After looking in magazines, and watching many decorating shows, we finally did our dream kitchen. This is the first home we have ever purchased, as my husband was a Navy pilot. We lived on the Navy base most of his career, or rented. It's nice to finally have something that is all mine. Now that we bought a house, I can have fun making it a " HOME " :
We just did a complete kitchen remodel...it was done the week before x-mas. Everything was custom done....maple and cherry was used. We chose ivory with a chocolate glaze and chocolate brown with a black glaze. All the lighting is custom...each display shelf is lit, we have under cabinet lighting, and a chandalier over the island. Everything is on dimmers. Our backsplash is a combination of stone and glass. We have a Perrin and Rowe, by Rohl, faucet. We have a Kohler apron sink. Our appliances are paneled, and they are KitchenAid. Our granite is " Giallo Ornamental "...and it has a ogee edge. We have a bar/coffee area. We have double ovens, microwave and warming drawer. Our drawers are all slow close. We have double trash cans that pull out, and a lazy susan. We used oil rubbed bronze for the hardware. We did a pantry/laundry room as well...everything custom there too. We even added a special area for our kitty...for her liter box and water/food bowls. ( she is part of the family too!!
UPDATE: here are some answers to questions you all asked. The paint color is called Sauteed Mushroom, by Olympic paints. Our flooring is travertine..classic tan. ( done in a french pattern . The chandalier over the island is by Golden Lighting, ( # 8606-10 RBZ it's oil rubbed bronze.

I chose Antique Red/Kilim Beige for my kitchen redo with shell white trim. The backsplash is a tumbled travertine pearl color. We knocked out a wall between the den & Kitchen, added two wood beams. We have lots of ceiling angles. It has tall ceilings and is very open. I tend to like bold colors but did consider a pale blue. My ceiling is Kilim beige and walls are red with the adjoining family room in nomadic desert . My den is also very open with a cathedral ceiling. The family room is adjoining the foyer with 20 foot ceilings. That room is painted Latte with the ceiling in Kilim Beige. All my rooms seems to have unique ceilings so a challenge nonetheless! Would you get rid of the white appliances? I am not a fan of stainless even though my cooktop is a stainless Thermador. Would it break up the area too much to eventually replace the white oven & fridge w stainless??(I am hearing that is going "out" now and paneled doors are it Any feedback very appreciated! Kevin Jones Design/Omega Cabinets were the companies that pulled this look off!

We completely removed everything from the old kitchen down to the drywall and replaced it with solid maple cabinets, oil rubbed bronze knobs and pulls, stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, new granite countertops, new travertine and glass tile backsplash, and new pendant, task and can lighting.

I designed these cherry cabinets and had them made by Masters Woodworking. They are topped with black granite counters. The ovens and cooktop are stainless steel. Both the refrigerator and dishwasher have custom fronts that match the cabinetry, including the drawer lines. A couple of my favorite features are the bar that has seating on both sides, which is great for conversations and playing games, and the 32" tv with an appliance garage below. The backsplash is made of 1"x1" glass tiles. My kitchen combines good looks and functionality. The floors are made of 3" Angico wood.

50 Year old kitchen, original custom made cabinet, cracked and peeling linoleum, outdated light fixture, scary non-functional gas stove, tired counter tops, no dishwasher, old sink. This space is used to cook for groups of up to 35 people! Please help us make this a place where we can enjoy our family gatherings.

My wife asked me to remodel this old place into a rental. I was on a strict budget and told it could be all my own design. I used materials left by the previous owner and bought only what I had to. I built the kitchen cabinets, installed the linoleum tiles, and poured the concrete countertops all by myself. I believe it is the ultimate kitchen for any man. My wife wonders if she should have been more involved with the project (all she did was make the curtains?
