We wanted a nursery that had an equal balance of baby and our personal style. We also wanted to keep the budget small and so did everything ourselves.
We wanted warm muted tones that were calming. The bamboo floor that my husband put down really pulls that all together. He also made the crown bed cornice and added crown molding.
The bedding, valances and draping was all sewn by my mom. She also hand painted the "A Boy Is" saying that I picked out for my son's room.
Additional details like the covered pinboard, painted biplane above the closet and painted "L" with bow above the crib were also DIY projects I did throughout the course of designing the nursery.
Please feel free to ask about anything in the room as to where we got it, I'd be happy to share!

I wanted a nursery that my daughter could sleep and play in but that I enjoyed being in as well. This space is something she can grow in. I love coming in here because its just so comfy! The furniture is pottery barn and partially inspired the decor. All of the paint is Ethos but matched to Benjamin Moore colors. The wall paint is Pink Cherub, the ceiling is candy stripe, the wall behind the crib, animals and polka dots are Kona. The hot pink accents on the mural are rhododendron. I found images for the mural from etsy and then projected them on the wall and traced them and painted them. The pom poms are from etsy as well. The glider is used but I found slipcovers online for $200 so now its Ivory! The shelves are from Home Depot. If you have additional questions as to where I got something, just let me know :

If the link doesn't work and it says link doesn't exist on the blog, IT DOES EXIST. Just copy and paste it into the browser and it will work. I don't know why that happens sometimes. (The link adds a

at the end of the webaddress, you can also just delete that and it'll take you to the tutorial
I finally purchased a new couch and I love it. The couch is the Claudia Sofa from Macy's.
Now I'm still on the hunt for a new coffee table. I'm kind of getting sick of my ottoman which I had only bought because my kids were toddlers and I didn't want them to get hurt on hard edges and corners.
For the coffee table I think I will go with a gold Hollywood Regency table or a modern chrome and marble top table. Lets see what I can find in an affordable option.
A lot of people always ask me why I have light colored flooring even though that the trend is to go really dark. The reason is dust and dirt! Most of my friends that have dark floors go crazy trying to keep their dark hardwood floors looking clean. I don't, because you can't see the dust and cat hair from 4 cats as much. That is also the reason why I have a traditional persian style area rug. I actually would much rather have a graphic patterned rug but they are hard to keep clean again. I've tried other rugs before. The pattern of my rug is forgiving!
That is the reason why I have the ikea pillows. They are easy to wash and keep clean. And if one is ruined, they are cheap and easy to replace.
I guess I'd rather compromise with my large busy family. Two kids and four cats do make a lot of dirt but my house mostly looks clean!

I painted my dining room below the chair rail green, prairie brush by Valspar. The top wall is an off white color. The picture has a brown matte on top and green on bottom. The bowl rack has green and white bowls and a white pumpkin for the season. The green and cream curtains are from Ballard Designs. We are comfortable with the room.

The cream tealight holders are from the Christmastree shop and where only $1.69. The gold glass plates also came from this store. The mini stockings I found at the Cracker Barrel and the gold tree shaped candles followed me home from Marshalls. I used beaded glass chargers and bowls I bought at Wegmans grocery store and I used a Mikasa Italian Countryside saucer.

We moved into our new house and basically had a blank canvas. We took down the old ceiling fan over the dining room and put in a chandelier; then, we installed a new fan over the living room area. And of course we painted. We wanted a warm and inviting space to relax and entertain. Eventually, I'd like new couches - more modern ones - but this will do for now!

The inspiration came from the faux bunnies found at Joann's and the cream bowls from TJ Maxx. The rest are all items I had, I just stuck with the green, brown and cream color theme and tried to alternate the colors with the plates.

A simple suburban example of maroon, white and black. We like minimal clutter and smooth textures. The iron bed is the focal point with its deep red spread that has just a hint of a design. Dark wood accessories are used to contrast the stark bone walls.

we replaced our warm country plaids in shade of green and peach with a tan leather sofa and loveseat but kept the dark green leather recliner. so far i am not warming up to this look. carpet is a peach color. i'd really like to use as little of the dark green as possible this time. it's an open floor plan with the kitchen in natural oak with bright orange countertops. dining area has the same oak trim shelving with cream colored leather seating.

We recently moved from a 3 bedroom house to a 3 room apartment! I decided if I had to downsize I was going to make this place look like a little doll house. I removed carpet and to my surprise I found beautiful dark hard wood floors. We used an old waterfall bedroom suite and the vanity became my desk. I tried to keep in a "toille"/French country theme. Did I succeed?
