  • Eclectic & Kid-Friendly Front Porch, The front porch of this mid-western Dutch Colonial Revival is cheery and inviting. Since young children live in the home, and local zoning did not require a porch railing, the home owners used large ceramic pots as a barrier. The Adirondack furniture was painted bright colors to add to the curb appeal. The swing, set low to accommodate the children, is the perfect element of whimsy. This space fits in perfectly in this sleepy town. , Porches Design

  • Front Porch, This is the front porch on our 1927 Dutch Colonial house. We love the original wood front door. My husband replaced the original wood ceiling with new beadboard and stained it. A new addition is the green planter box--inspired by a planter at a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Chicago and made by my husband. The chairs are new too and we love sitting out and enjoying our neighborhood! , Porches Design

  • Elegant Bricked Front Porch, Using old Chicago street pavers for the entry walk and porch, this colonial style home evokes a sense of old southern charm. The varied color and texture of the authentic paving brick are crucial to the period flavor and elegance. The reddish tones of the brick provide a rich contrast to the sage green siding. The wrought iron cafe table and chairs play up the southern colonial style even though this home is actually just 26 miles south of Chicago in Frankfort, IL, Porches Design

I'd like to do some sort of landscape on the hill and up to the house and pick a different house color, but can't seem to settle on anything. I also like to swap out the star on the front for different themes. Any ideas?, Home Exterior Design

Re-did both sides of house to matching vinyl siding. The back was already brick from a previous addition, and I always pictured the front being brick too., Porches Design

We are getting ready for a big renovation and want to charm up the front with either a portico front porch that ends between each pair of front windows or a front porch that spans the front of the house (not the garage portion). I would love to get everyone's opinion on what would look best. Thanks!, Home Exterior Design

  • front entrance, Our curb appeal was completely missing when we bought our house. It was a "plain-Jane" 1960's colonial with no character. We put up window boxes, changed out the front door (early1900's), painted the house and shutters, added a trex patio, two pergolas, and landscaping. The great thing is that we did it all for less than $3000.00., Home Exterior Design
