I moved into my 980 square foot bungalow and with a bunch of heirlooms from my grandmother. I couldn't think of a better way to honor her memory than to create a photo wall that includes several of my favorite pictures of her. There are some empty frames at the moment which will be filled in with recent pictures.

Wife said when we bought this house last year the kitchen was my #1 priority. Check out the before pictures and you'll know why. Took 7 months but we're done. Also check out the nite time shots and day shots as well as the Collage of all the functional cabinets. We spent just over $18,000 with the most being on Cabinets, Granite and Appliances. All other work was sweat equity by hubby.

We haven't done much in here except paint the walls a neutral beige color. I would love some color inspiration... I tend to lean towards "safe" colors, and feel stumped with this living room. With our dark wood trim and our brown and beige furnishings I have no idea what color would look good on the walls. Any suggestions???

I started with my favorite colors on the walls and then rummaged through stuff in my basement to find old frames to repaint and made a lot of collages with scrapbook paper, Christmas decorations, and whatever else I could find. It was so fun!

Not waiting for all items to arrive, I moved forward with the intallation of transforming a FL townhome master bedroom for my friend & client - Vero.
The window panels and hardware ordered on 10/14 are on back order until December 8. In the meantime, I removed old panels and utilized existing decorative rod with Link Burnout Sheers I picked up at West Elm.
The painter was unavailable to paint until today - Color selected: Sherwin Williams Tony Taupe in a Satin finish. I'm considering wide stripes across bed wall: same color but two finishes. After painting the space, both floor standing mirrors are to be mounted to the wall [to the hieght of the door] and it will accent the height in space. A starburst mirror [also on order] is to be mounted over the bed.
Although the 5x7 fret rug was a great deal at only $35, the client prefers the first rug choice which I ordered today. I'll be utilizing this rug for another bedroom installation - at my moms - since I was going to have ordered another anyways.
The legs of the existing pair of cream Jacquard antique slipper chairs [originally belonging to her Aunt - they came from Germany] to be stained Jacobean.
Clients reaction - "WOW!!! I LOVE IT!! Especially the mirrors and being able to use the slipper chairs!" Clients main request: Romantic, clean and comfortable space. No dressers needed - all her clothing storage is in her walkin closet. More info about the space and process can be found on my blog at http://nyclq-focalpoint.blogspot.com. Thanks for stopping by!!

This room is truly a mutt (a combination of an extra guest bedroom as well as a craft table for gift wrapping and card writing. Although it will someday become a nursery we love that we have a designated spot to house all of our wrapping and writing supplies as well as another daybed for sleeping overflow guests. To see how this room once was a dining room visit www.thisyounghouse.com.

NO TEMPLATE GALLERY WALL: Created last August in our FL Townhome, a month before learning we were moving. Although it was for Fall, it's simple enough to use for anytime of the year. The gallery wall created from thrifted frames, free frames (were fitting room frames and a mix of animal prints. Animal prints are scrapbook paper prints and faux fur fabrics. Bottles on table are wine bottles white washed inside. To give the space a cohesive feel, the rustic accent wall is a wash of three colors currently used the home - light grey, dark grey and mocha. For more info on how I created this NO TEMPLATE galllery wall, visit my blog to read the post: http://nyclq-focalpoint.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-make-no-template-gallery-wall.html

This is our "great room" which is part of an open floor plan to kitchen, breakfast area and formal dining. I have left over fabric from the window treatments and plan to make some throw pillows.

PLEASE RATE. Any comments would be appriciated. Pros and Cons, things that can be modified. THANKS.
For my 15th birthday I was able to re-do my bedroom. For the color of the walls I chose to color match my yellow sweater. I have posted my room before and with the comments I recieved I took the into conderation and put them into effect. I can not change my room around (move the pieces of furniture their is no other arrangement then can be done. (Just saying. For the secondary/ accent colors I choose black, white and red. You can see the white with the trimming, the black in the picture frames (most of the anyways, the black and white in the sheets and picture canvas. And their is one piece of red. Although, in my other bed sheets (which are not in the photos I have red in it.

HI I am a bit reluctant to post our inside pictures as I said we just built the house and the rooms are not done. We are definately DIY'ers and as you know things take lots of time and money and we are trying to keep in mind the house style as we create each room. Enjoy!

Our 13yo Teen Wants a "Warm" Bedroom. As it turns out, to him this means bright yellow and orange, and he has in mind some beach condo's we've visited. He likes white/blue beach cottage rooms like HomeMom's Beach Cottage Guest Room http://www.roomzaar.com/rate-my-space/Bedrooms/beach-cottage-guest-room-wannabe/detail.esi?oid=484248 but then wants it in warm colors. This is a mockup of one corner in Photoshop; we're priming the sheetrock today so have a blank room, not even finished floors. Please help us design and refine this space, perhaps add a masculine flair, and teach us about designing with color. :

BIG CHANGE in little time and little expense for a person who can only take a little change at a time (my momUtilized existing furniture (10 yrs. old from P1 and restored it with Rustoleum 2x Espresso paint for rattan. Metal restored with Rustoleum Oil Rubbed Bronze finish (and made a world of difference New brighter COLOR & pattern for cushions. Added unused interior pillows for a mix of patterns. Repositioned furniture, and added a rug and a white bamboo (thrift table to create a conversation area and a reading nook. Utilized hanging lanterns, ferns and wind-chimes to draw eyes up to cedar wood beam ceiling. Added white pots & white accents to also help brighten a drab space, tucked behind a FL town-home, off a pond & golf coarse. Maintained scroll bars on windows for security, but utilized as wall art (hung thrift store ladle-like candle holders to tie into garden styling. White panels from my window panel stash, tied back with twine from seagrass, and simply hung utilizing my dads old 2" common nails (easy to remove to clean or for when a hurricane comes to town.
