  • Buhbye Sea of Oakiness :), Our 14 year old worn and yellowed but structurally sound oak cabinets got a facelift. The space feels larger and much, much brighter! We used rustoleum kitchen transformations in linen, unglazed and espresso, glazed. The project took us 8 weeks. Still have floor to do but so happy the cabinets are done!, Kitchens Design

  • designed on a nickel, Euro-cafe work in progress., Did it all ourselves. This 120+ yr old house had been destroyed by tenants.and almost lost to foreclosure while I evicted them. With only a few bucks in my pocket we tried to combine Italian/Parisian cafe feel( never been to either). Did quick fixes like venetian plaster on the walls.and wood wainscot to cover other damage.Lots of colors with some whimsical accessories to take away from the damage still not repaired. A work in progress cant decide about the color for the wood. , Kitchens Design

  • Room For a Crowd: Silver, Grey & Gold, Large 15' x 18' living room with vaulted ceiling, traditional fireplace and plantation shutters. Tons of seating provided by matching sofas and comfy brown leather arm chairs - one with a fun circle print ottoman. Lots of shine and "sparkle" added by large venetian beaded mirror, capiz drum tables, matching crystal base lamps, crystal obelisks, murano glass pieces, and a glass top coffee table. Loads of fun storage in the silver bar chest and silver sideboard/credenza. The dark pewter of the sofas, grey flannel lampshades, a rolled steel console table, black granite tiered end tables, grey demi-lune table with brown wood top and a traditional persian style rug keep the room from being too "frou-frou". Fresh modern art adds a contemporary touch. , Living Rooms Design

  • Country Kitchen, This is my interpretation of a cozy country kitchen with newly painted walls in a primitive color...."old gold 5" from Lowes.. Let me know what you think of the color.. before I painted the walls they were a white creamyish shade, which was in a real need of a punch of color in that space.. Let me know how you like it, Do you think it's too much? The trueist color is the picture of the wall with the stove, and the one with the side table, the other pictures made the walls seem a little tan...(there not tan) trust me :), Kitchens Design

  • From House to Apartment , I recently moved across country and downsized from a house to an apartment. The best way to decorate an apartment is to make the best use of what you already have. For instance, a piece of art or accessory may work better in a different room than before. Be flexible, creative, and experiment. , Living Rooms Design

  • Spa like on a small budget, from old and plain for 1,600, Spa like on a small budget, from old and plain. My son and daughter in law recently bought a new home. They asked me to redo their bathroom. They wanted shades of brown and that is what they got. It was a good size bathroom but it had a lot of wasted space. I gutted the room and while doing so I found an open space beside the tub in which I added a wonderful built in storage space. The tub was taken out and replaced with a shower. The counter site was moved to the side wall and doubled in size. The cabinets have tilt outs and the silent close feature. The cabinet on the right has a laundry shoot to the laundry room below. The cabinets and granite counter top were a wonderful find for their budget. They could have easily spent most of their budget on just the cabinet and counter top. The counter top is St. Cecilia with a beautiful edge and under mount sink. Everything in the bathroom is new and it was all done for $ 1,600.00. I love shopping for bargains. It really pays to shop around when doing a remodel.

  • Neutral Living Room, We haven't done much in here except paint the walls a neutral beige color. I would love some color inspiration... I tend to lean towards "safe" colors, and feel stumped with this living room. With our dark wood trim and our brown and beige furnishings I have no idea what color would look good on the walls. Any suggestions???, Living Rooms Design

  • Small Bathroom - Beautiful and blue from - 1970's ugly and worn out. , This bathroom desperately needed help. The bathroom is in a 70's house and is very small. The tile job is bad and the vanity is too large for the space. The tile has plastic wood trim and lots of caulk around it which makes me think that the tile job may be much worse than it looks on the surface. I am going to find out what lies beneath.

I striped most of the walls down to the studs and started installing my new blue bathroom. The mosaic tile took a while to put together. After that everything went up fairly easy. Replaced the vanity, counter, toilet, medicine cabinet adding trim around and to the ceiling. I added storage shelves recessed in the wall with trim to the ceiling to match the medicine cabinet and vanity, which I had added decorative wood to the door and drawers. The only thing that was not replaced was the tub which we had refinished to match the toilet and sink. The piece of granite for the counter was actually given to me as a 36 X36 at a granite fabricator. The man thought I would not be able to do anything with it (He was so wrong) and I thank him very much for my granite counter top. I cut it to fit the vanity, did the rock finish edging, and cut the hole for the sink in just over an hour. I had a budget of $900.00 for the bathroom. Doing all of the work myself with the exception of refinishing the tub I spent $846.98 to totally redo this hall bathroom. Could not have done it at all if I had to pay for demo and all of the instillations of medicine cabinet, counter, tile floor and shower, mosaic, built-ins, vanity, sink, toilet, faucets, Just the custom mosaic would have taken my budget.

  • Formal, warm and inviting living room, This is the room that would typically be called the formal living room. We are casual and have young children. I think the space is well suited to our lifestyle. It is a perfect space for conversation or to curl up and read a book. After dinner parties we generally circulate into the space for after dinner drinks and dessert. I still need to change out the previous drapery. It is not my style. It does match to some degree so it has been a little farther down on my to do list. I'll get them done, hopefully this year. Enjoy and thanks for looking!, Living Rooms Design

  • Modern Bathroom with a Doorless Shower and Tropic Brown Granite, After years of living with etched glass walls with brass trim we tore it all out and replaced it with a modern walk-in doorless shower. The rest of the bathroom was updated with tropic brown counters, vessel sinks, and Nexus cabinets in brown. We paneled our bathtub with a simple nexus cover panel and replaced all of the brass with chrome. Our shower and bath tile was accented with a strip of gray marble mosaic with a travertine liner above and below. The shower pan was replaced with the marble mosaic as well. The floor tile was removed and replaced with Armstrong vinyl tiles to match the field wall tile on the diagonal in a brick pattern. The big glass mirror was replaced with modern mirrored medicine cabinets. This is a very low maintenance bathroom., Bathrooms Design

  • Candice Olson Inspired Kitchen, This contemporary kitchen was inspired by a Candice Olson design. There is a light and airy feel to this space because it opens up to the dining room but it also has 2 french doors that open up to a beautiful deck that adds living space outdoors. The wall colour is a Sarah Richardson colour by Para and the cabinets are Ikea. The two granite choices add interest to the space by complimenting the white and dark wood cabinets. This budget conscious kitchen is high on style even though it is low on cost. , Kitchens Design
