  • A Tween Boy's Hip Hangout, When we adopted our 3 year old daughter from Russia last year we went all out to create a space for her that was fem and fabulous. Now, almost a year later, it was time to do the same for our almost 13 year old bio son. After all -- it was only fair!

He longed for something hip and urban-edged. Even though the room is close to postage stamp sized, we noticed that his friends were beginning to gravitate to the room. So...we set out to keep it clean and fairly uncluttered (as uncluttered as a young boy - who likes to collect stuff - can be), modern and yet comfortable. The full-sized loft bed fits his almost 5'5" frame better than his old twin and frees up lots of space underneath to house collectibles and do homework. The lounge area on the other side features uber cool lighting underneath which casts a glow and illuminates the floor. The closet space was reworked. With doors removed, we painted it orange, installed interior rope lighting and hung metal ball chain curtain in the front. Lastly, his growing collection of bobbleheads finally found a home all together!

Update: After a huge remodel, our daughter moved into this space and it's now undergoing a huge transformation. Our son is now almost 16 and he lucked out and moved into the new addition. Check out his new room! We upped the anty - big time!, Boys' Rooms Design

  • Big and Bold, This is our master bath. It is as big as our master bedroom! White of course was not working for me. I went red!!! This room is still a work in progress we plan to expand the shower possibly change the bathtub get rid of the large built in and make changes to the tile and the vanity. Our closet is also apart of this room. (It's tiny!) The bath and closet together is roughly 16' x 16'. , Bathrooms Design

  • Playroom, This room was utilized as a storage space before being remodeled into a girl's playroom. It is located in an outbuilding that was built in the 1920's. Everything was redone, from the flooring, which was falling in, to the walls and the ceiling. Now it has fun black and white, easy to clean flooring. We added beadboard walls which were painted yellow and trimmed in white. The ceiling is actually mobile home skirting which has been nailed up to mock a tin ceiling. Since this space has an upper space, we made a ladder for the kids to climb up to the next level. This is a great escape for kids to just go read a book, listen to music or play with friends. My daughter usually takes our dog out there with her and they hang out together. The room also has a small dorm room type refrigerator and a window AC unit. It is also a fun place for sleepovers. A great idea for parents who want to make a small place just for their kids, is to use the storage closet underneath the stairs of a two story home. You can paint it in fun colors, fill it with books and toys, yet be able to close the door to hide it all. Most closet spaces under the stairs already come with lighting. Kids will love to have a spot of their own., Other Spaces Design

  • Master Bathroom remodel, I had an incredibly small bathroom originally, shaped like the letter L and I had the wall taken out and french doors added. The slate floor and walk in shower with marble tile tops were added and I put up the small slate shelving myself with the extra tiles. I also built the mirror myself with a slight slant forward to see better instead of the traditional flat against the wall version of the vanity. The sink and closet doors are from ikea, but the shelving and frame I built myself with scrap wood from an earlier project in the kitchen. Overall I'm really pleased with the outcome., Bathrooms Design

We also hung a new light fixtures some pictures and shelving. , Bedrooms Design

I would like it to be neat and have my bed somewhere where I could get up and not fall into a dresser. I once broke my ankle by getting out of bed trying to get to the door. I am in need of help and with a low budget. Any ideas of how tomake it better??? I also have terible lighting I have 5 lamps that all do nothing., Bedrooms Design
