For our 3rd girl we wanted something different other than another pink room. We decided to take a leap and go for a red nursery and LOVE how it turned out! I wanted something clean, classic and a touch of vintage.

I won a bedroom makeover from a local designer - my budget (for "stuff". Her design services and painting were part of the win. We (husband & I couldn't be HAPPIER with the results - I did do a lot of the work myself: finds, painting furniture, etc. I hope you like it! ;- Thanks for looking! With three small children, my husband and I definitely deserve a restful, beautiful room. I created this space to feel sophisticated and elegant without being TOO ornate. The elegance of the furniture is balanced with the simple beauty of the lamps and mirror. My husband has to live in this room, too, so this is a nice balance of feminine and masculine by using black, leather and nail-head trim. The walls are Valspar's "Lighthouse Shadows". The ceiling is "Cream in My Coffee". Since the ceiling is vaulted, we added the molding to "bring the ceiling down" and create a cozier space. Painting the ceiling the same color as the upper wall helped complete this feel.
The bedding was surprisingly purchased at Walmart about 2 years ago. I made the curtains, wall monogram and headboard with a little muscle from hubby. I removed the original "matchy matchy" mirror on the dresser and added this large solid wood one from Homegoods - only $50! Other accessories in the room are from Marshalls, Target, Homegoods, Ross, etc. I successfully convinced my husband to take down the ceiling fan and put up the chandelier instead...bought at Home Depot.
I finally LOVE our bedroom and the feeling it brings us.

Color goes a long ways in adding or detracting from your mood and feelings especially in tender times.
On this project there a loss had occurred- the loss of my client’s sweet mother and their much-loved family Bassett hound both passed within a very short time of each other. All this emotional heaviness caused the family to desire a lighter- fresher living space- to lift the mood of their mostly ‘brown and black’ master suite and add a sense of peace and calm.
The dark tan walls and ceiling received a wonderfully luxurious faux treatment called ‘luster stone’ in a blissful blue-green tone. Keeping all their existing furnishings; only a larger bedside tables graced with updated frames for family pictures, a palette-extending rug under foot, simple window treatments, and new lamps were added. I refinished and upholstering their previously big, brown and black bed-to a more comfortable and dreamy-looking bed with a padded head and footboard. The changes were relatively minor with but added a total freshness and elegance to the space.
The master bath was a complete make over with a crowing jewel – the lovely chandelier which had hung over my client’s mother’s dining table now graces that space and serves to remind that mom is still lighting the way.
These changes helped to create a relaxing-retreat for this couple and one that soothes the senses.

From a new kitchen addition in 1988 to the present day, my kitchen has gone from a cave like U-shape to an open, airy and bright modern beautiful space which has enhanced the entire great room effect. I think you will be able to tell the before & after photos.

My pre-teen daughter wanted bright blue walls filled with posters of animals. I wanted something a little more classy and timeless. This was the fun sophisticated compromise that I came up with. see more at http://mydesigndump.blogspot.com/

This kitchen was taken from dilapidated and confining to elegant and open. The process required the removal of several walls, moving windows and lacing in of Hardwood floors. The goal was to integrate the rustic poll-barn beams with elegance and class as well as to utilize the relatively small space effectively. Take a looks and let me know how well I did.

Since I live in Miami, I wanted to bring the water into my house. So I created a light and cozy space inspired by a relaxation and spa feeling. Simple and classy.
