This is a work in progress. I originally painted the whole room pink. Then added the green stripe. There is gold glitter in stripe and at night it sparkles when the light is on. The green wall with pink flowers was born from a mistake. I had tried to paint polka dots and it just looked awful. So I was going to paint over everything with the green but thought I'd use painter's tape to mask out the flowers. It turned out really well! My daughter loves it! We are getting her a new, dresser to match her new bed. I want to put some matching shelves in here too, for some added decor and books. I just finished her drapes. Guess what they were originally! I'll tell all on that photo. lol we also just added the chandelier above her table. We'll be putting white faux wood blinds in here soon, too. Thank you for stopping by. :

Fine Lake home "not" ...

Our house needs a new look! What color should we paint the window trim, the decking, and handrail. The house needs some character with landscaping as well. Also looking for advise on decorating the deck with outdoor patio lights and furniture, ect. We feel that the house is too bland and it needs some character. We live in a house that is 1,600 sq. ft. on the main level, and 1,200 sq. ft. on the lower level. It has a light grey vinyl shake siding called "weathered white". The windows are trimmed out in cedar painted white. It has double hung white windows, and two white french doors facing the lake. The lakeside is considered the front. There is a front deck that wraps around to the back of the home and it is a grey Trex maintenance-free decking. The deck railing is cedar painted white with aluminum spindals. The gutter is 6 in., 1/2 round, galvalium. There is a detached garage with the same siding, trim, and gutter. There is no lanscaping to speak of. We are desparately needing advise on how to create a shabby chic look, that is fun, and inviting, but yet elegant.

600 dollar throw away ...

I bought this house for $600 dollars at a tax sale auction and set out to remodel and redo it with a very small amount of money! It has been redone with free, recycled, repurposed items with paint being the only major expense! I searched all over town and hit curb piles, had friends, neighbors and whoever I could talk into keeping a look out.. watch for discarded items. Soon, people began to bring me things they thought might look good in my house! No area was free from scrounging, including the city compost pile where people dumped amazing treasures!

7-Year Old Paris chic

This is my 7-year-old little girl's room. We're not finished yet but we've gotten far enough that I thought I'd post it and see if anyone had suggestions that would help me finish it up.

We will be getting her a new, white, bedroom set since her bed is actually broken and on it's last leg. For now, though, it's working for her. She loves it and I'm so happy to have done most of the work in here myself. For her birthday she'll be getting a white table and chairs, just like her sister has in her room. See my 6-year-old's room for that. The fabric on the seat cushion will be different though. Anyway, I can hardly wait to add this to her room and we'll also be getting her a chandelier. Meanwhile, I hope you like what we've done so far and I welcome any suggestions. btw...purple is her favorite color, so that was a must in this room. lol
