When my husband and I found out we were having a little girl, my wheels immediately started spinning and construction began! I have always loved wainscot, so that was the first DIY project my husband tackled. I maximized space by setting the armoire caddy-corner with a changing station to the left and the crib directly on the opposing wall. The glider and ottoman is also caddy corner next to the changing station. I found an antique mahogany two-tier table with scallop edging from Craigslist -$50- and refinished it in a black pearl stain with gold etching and tulip flowers with the letter M for Baby Madison. The picture-in-picture was a design inspiration that my mom found in an interior decor magazine. We replicated the idea, wallpapering each of the inside panels bordered with molding, and placed vintage pictures that have been with my family for several years. On the 'changing station' wall, the other two picture-in-pictures have wired vintage figures of a manikin silhouette and Eiffel tower for that Parisian flare. My mother-in-law made all the bedding, drapery, and diaper hanging sack from fabric we picked out a local fabric warehouse in Buena Park, CA. The crib cornice and curtain tie backs were a great find at the Princess Canopy Shop on Etsy. They are stained in black pearl with brass/gold etching. My husband designed the M font and worked with an online wood-work company to produce the finished product at a greatly reduced price -under $40-. I bought the hanging chandelier on closeout with black shades and matching pink bows were tied using the leftover pink satin bedding fabric. The furniture is by Munire, purchased at USA Baby and the lamp was purchased on clearance at Tuesday Morning -$50-. I shopped around for the rug after finding that on an interior design website, I bought it for 50% less than retail from BoldRugs.com after they price matched another competitors price. The crib mobile was purchased on target.com.

I knew I was going to help my daughter with the crib, but I ended up taking it to the max when we created this beautiful nursery for my brand new grandson, Cayden. We obtained most of the pieces from Craigslist. We had looked at alot of baby furniture before we bought and she knew she wanted the Cocoala Turtle as her theme. I sanded all the pieces and painted them with the non-toxic primer and paint I got at Sherwin-Williams. We ended up having two pieces that were Italian made, the crib and changing table and they matched well. We also bought a used glider and footstool that the previous owners had purchased at Babies R Us. She wanted all the furniture painted black and the checkerboard room was designed by her, painted by me. It all came together so well, and the pictures don't even do the room justice, because it is a small space. The baskets came with liners, but we chose material that matched the theme. I took the liners apart and used them as patterns to create the new matching liners as I did with the cushions of the glider and the changing table fitted sheet pad. The entire room costs us less than $500 and I believe we saved at least $1000 on this room if not more.

We wanted to create a very girly space with touches of sophistication. We accomplished this with our color palate and simple decor. We used soft, subdued shades of pink and white juxtaposed with pops of bright lime green. We are very happy with the end result, creating a space our baby girl can enjoy for many years to come.

We are adopting a little boy very soon and this is the space we created for him. It all started with the bedding that looked like leaves to me. Then came the trees. I really like simple clean lines. We will put finishing touches after our little guy joins our family.

The walls are a dark chocolate brown with a 12" red boarder painted at the top. The trim and doors are an antique white. The curtains, crib skirt, and personalized children's chair are red/white gingham. The crib sheet, comforter, changing pad cover, light switch plate, lamp shade, and night light are an ivory fabric with brown vintage sock monkeys! The mobile above the crib was made by me. My father made the red shelf, and a friend made the personalized blocks. I made the "No Monsters Allowed" sign above the closet. The room isn't overwhelming with Sock Monkeys. The theme is understated, and we love that it can be easily transformed, as Preston grows. All we'll have to do is change the bedding, curtains and wall art!

We used brown, tan, and green to create a calm and cozy space for our newest arrival. The room is very small so we opted for curtains instead of doors on the closet and matched them to the one window.

(Repost - new pictures We just completed this nursery for my little guy Kyleb who is due in the next couple of weeks! We wanted to do something modern / contemporary that he can grow into for the next 5 - 7 years. We hand painted the rocker changing table ceiling fan and some of the wall art.
