My new little business, Lara Mark Designs, took off with my debut of a sweet baby girl's nursery. With different shades of pinks, lots of flowers, polka dots, stripes and extra special touches, a very special baby girl was welcomed into this world...and she's gonna love her room!

This is our kitchen. It overlooks our sunken family room. I wish several things were different with our space but we live with what we have. I think I have made good use of the space. I don't like clutter and keep my counters free of it. I do like our counters and the back splash. I also love our kitchen table and leather chairs. I put glass over the wood the protect it. I have three little ones and it makes clean up much easier. I know it isn't very pretty to look at. I also have two boosters for my twins at the table. I have matching chairs that they will graduate to someday. Our curtains are a new addition and add some color and fun. They coordinate well with our drapery in the family room. Enjoy looking. Thanks!

What gets my heart pounding more than a room to organize and decorate? Just about nothing. So believe me, when my hubby and I found out we'd be parents to a fourth child, I was over-the-top excited about a new room to design. I adore kids' rooms almost as much as I adore the actual kids. Little Miss Louisa was reason enough to celebrate, but her room to decorate was the icing on the cake! I wanted to avoid the ordinary pinks and purples. I wanted a room that exuded girly-ness and class. I wanted a space that was fit for a baby but would grow with a child. What evolved became the perfect place for our Little Miss Louisa.

With a Brother soon to be here my granddaughter wanted a big sister room. Damask, stripes, polka dots & rhinestones were the inspiration for this bedroom. I painted two shades of pink stripes on the wall one color satin finish and the other in a gloss finish. I created a scalloped border around the room with a circular sponge and filled the space in with polka dots. I used fabric patterns of black& white stripes, Black & white damask and black &white polka dots to create all the curtains and to add accents to the damask comforter. I created window cornices for the double window and one for a beautiful background for her bed. I created a vanity out of an end table with an adorable mini chandelier to accent the area. I also created a matching doll bed for her dolls which was the perfect finish for an Amazing Big Sister Bedroom.

It started with a 3/4 wall all around the kitchen and the original 1962 yellow cracked counter top sink stove range and the most hideous black monster refrigerator. It had to be taken out to the pipes. I wanted retro and modern but not like that.

As you can see we've made a few changes. We haven't got to the master bath or the floors yet, but i wanted to post an update. I'm doing this work entirely by myself with a house full of young ones running around so don't be too harsh :

Our Foyer was a difficult space to fill. A couple years ago I asked for opinions on the corner space where the olive jars are placed. I ended up filling them with florals and I feel they look great. They fit the space and ended up being good option for a difficult area. I keep our foyer open and free from clutter. My children like to use the space for overflow from their playroom when playing. It is warm and inviting space, which I think greets our guests nicely into our home. During parties I place a beautiful center table in the middle of my rug. It has worked well to place a guest book and beautiful arrangements that tie to the theme of my parties. I think it is a fabulous space that can work well during different times of the year. In these pictures you will see how we keep it on a typical basis. Enjoy!

My home gym. I needed a place dedicated to workout in. I wanted a upbeat sophisticated, sassy space. Somewhere where I would actually ant to go in there. Although I have 3 dog crates I needed to put somewhere too. I think over all I made a decent space on a non budget.

We designed and built 2 chandeliers comprised of handblown christmas ornaments- hundreds of them. One hangs in the main enty of our home and the second in a different color wave, resides over the entry to our master bedroom suite. This one shines right through the round window as a delightful accent

I designed a timeless nursery that my little angel can grow with. It's not too babyish nor too grown up, it embodies elegance, grace and femininity. I hope you will enjoy looking at the nursery as much as I enjoyed creating it.

It was a big challenge to work with such a small space and a limited budget with high expectations. My inspiration for the whole room was a grouping of canvases that I painted a contemporary paisley pattern. First I replaced my track celing fan with a chandelier that adds a great sparkling affect to the new striped off white metalic walls. I added a vanity that I purchased from an auction, I used a crackel finish with silver and topped it off with the metalic paint. I took the mirror off and decided to use the previous vanity as a contemporary desk. I also purchased an old oak buffet and spruced it up with off white paint and silver accents to become my entertainment/storage credenza. I finished the room with layers of coordinating fabrics for the bed and drapes. I am so pleased with how it turned out I love the shiny affect that the room has, I enjoyed working on the room and now spending time in my paisley glamour bedroom :

This long and narrow living room - dining room - kitchen was undefined and had no personality. After the space was staged the whole story changed! Now we have clear delineation between spaces plus each area is fully functional on its own but yet works beautifully with the rest.

With three small children, my husband and I definitely deserve a restful, beautiful room. I created this space to feel sophisticated and elegant without being TOO ornate. The elegance of the furniture is balanced with the simple beauty of the lamps and mirror. My husband has to live in this room, too, so this is a nice balance of feminine and masculine by using black, leather and nail-head trim. The walls are Valspar's "Lighthouse Shadows". The ceiling is "Cream in My Coffee". Since the ceiling is vaulted, we added the molding to "bring the ceiling down" and create a cozier space. Painting the ceiling the same color as the upper wall helped complete this feel.
The bedding was surprisingly purchased at Walmart about 2 years ago. I made the curtains, wall monogram and headboard with a little muscle from hubby. I removed the original "matchy matchy" mirror on the dresser and added this large solid wood one from Homegoods - only $50! Other accessories in the room are from Marshalls, Target, Homegoods, Ross, etc. I successfully convinced my husband to take down the ceiling fan and put up the chandelier instead...bought at Home Depot.
I finally LOVE our bedroom and the feeling it brings us.
