  • Chicago Great Room, My First Place - a vintage Chicago rehab. I had to stretch the budget and learn on the fly but I'm happy with the final product. It was very fun to pick out almost everything from scratch - although working w a non-accommodating developer was difficult. I left down the walls to one of the bedrooms so that I was able to create this "great room" type space in the middle of the city. It houses the living room dining area and kitchen. The fireplace is original dating back to the late 1800s., Living Rooms Design

  • Bright and Cheerful Big Girl Room, I loved her nursery, it was soft pink and light green. But she's 3 now and it was time to update! She LOVES purple and pink, so I tried to find bedding that had both but wasn't cheesy looking. I found this daisy bedding at JcPenney and everything centered around it and its colors. The walls are a soft lavender that look amazing with the white trim and furniture.I added butterflies around the room because she loves them too. We are both very pleased with the finished product!, Girls' Rooms Design

  • Cottage style kitchen remodel, We moved into this 130 year old home and renovated the kitchen. We knocked out a wall that was between kitchen and office. Painted cabinets, new counter tops and back splash. Now it is a open, light filled kitchen with breakfast bar and table and chairs. There were built in bookcases in office that are now part of kitchen. We are not done painting the shelves on the bookcases yet., Kitchens Design

  • hanging bed, My 11 year old daughter finally got her own room so we had fun decorating it together. She picked all the colors and helped do all the decorating. Most of the "decorative" items in the room were made by her. I am proud of her choices and we had a lot of fun doing it together. Oh and we used so much of what we already had that it cost under 150 for the whole room. I have more info on my blog montanachic@wordpress.com, Girls' Rooms Design

  • Warm, tuscan-inspired kitchen and family room, These are the two spaces where we spend most of our time. I absolutely love the colors in these rooms -- I've used chocolate brown olive green and rust. Just recently added hardware to the cabinets all new kitchen chairs new sofas and added molding to the island and painted it black. I did all the molding in the room and made all of the window treatments. Enjoy!, Kitchens Design

  • Pretty in pink, My daughter wanted a pink room - and though I tried to talk her out of it, she insisted and I gave in. I figure she is a great kid, as 6 yr olds go, so how could I refuse. She made it clear, also, that she didn't want a pink for "babies" but for big girl - hence the evolution of her room.

Paint colors: "zany pink" SW and "corkboard" Eddie bauer.
Aside from most pillows, I sewed everything made out of fabric as I am a fabric junkie! I am especially proud of the canopy which I built, stitched and hung. Added an inexpensive plug-in chandelier to it (Hobby Lobby, $25) by attaching it to a hook on the cornice board and looping the cord around the back, hidden by fabric. Added a magnet board, framed with open-back frame. Painted it with magnet paint and top-coated with room color. Took vinyl lettering and instead of putting it on the wall - affixed it to a canvas painted to match the room - therefore easily moved!

Painting the stripe without it bleeding was a pain - but found a technique online that gave me the cleanest line I ever saw - especially considering the heavy texture on the wall! Quite pleased with how that turned out. Time-consuming, but perfect.

All in all, I am quite pleased with room and my daughter is thrilled to pieces. Thanx for looking! , Girls' Rooms Design
