  • OK....need some suggestions with this, Update: The window wall IS NOT a desk/workstation. It's counter space with fridge on left and door to back on right. Micorwave is under the counter. *** When we built, the contractor did not finish this area of the cabinets. I'm unhappy with this section shown and would love to hear your opinion on what to do....I've already determined that we need to remove the bottom drawers from top cabinets as they are too close to countertops. I've toyed with idea to remove or not remove window (can't decide if I like the oval or want add'l cabinets here). The center section juts out and is currently unfinished at the bottom. I'd like to see if anyone has a different thought on what to do here. Our kitchen is open to dining and living areas. This is the only window in the kitchen (but there is a full glass door next to cabinets). I can't wait to hear your thoughts! I really want to get this project checked off the list :) Thanks, Kitchens Design

  • My dream kitchen, Hi, thanks for stopping by. I'm Debbie Beitzell Taylor and this is my first remodel. I am not a pro, I just love to play at it. Our home is under 1300 sq ft, but we love to entertain. My small cramped kitchen/ dining room lacked useable work space. We really wanted to create a space that was warm and inviting, a place friends and family would gather and enjoy each others company. We wanted it to be the center of the home. After getting rid of a window and fireplace and adding an island and doubling the counter and cupboards my kitchen is a joy to work in. We are looking forward to hosting many parties in the years to come. It now has 2 pantries, a baking station, a floor to ceiling appliance garage, a floor to ceiling spice cabinet., lazy Susan in the corner, dedicated spaces for trays and bake ware. stainless steel appliances and sink, a garbage and recycle center, a five burner gas stove top by Bosch, 2 niches above counters for propping cookbooks etc, a cookbook cabinet, travertine back splash, Madura Gold granite counters, porcelain tile floor for easy clean up, tray ceiling over the island, crown molding, recessed dimmable LED lighting, dimmable under counter lighting, stereo speakers in the ceiling.... ahhhhhhh mom's a happy camper., Kitchens Design

  • Harper's Big Girl Room, As our daughter turned 2, we decided to go ahead and convert her crib into a full size bed and give her a brand new "big girl" room to go with it. My goal was to strike a balance between playful and sophisticated so that it could last several years. We installed the board and batten and crown molding to create a classic space and chose the colors and patterns to make it fun and girly. I hope you liek it as much as we do!, Girls' Rooms Design

  • Chicago Great Room, My First Place - a vintage Chicago rehab. I had to stretch the budget and learn on the fly but I'm happy with the final product. It was very fun to pick out almost everything from scratch - although working w a non-accommodating developer was difficult. I left down the walls to one of the bedrooms so that I was able to create this "great room" type space in the middle of the city. It houses the living room dining area and kitchen. The fireplace is original dating back to the late 1800s., Living Rooms Design

  • Bright and Cheerful Big Girl Room, I loved her nursery, it was soft pink and light green. But she's 3 now and it was time to update! She LOVES purple and pink, so I tried to find bedding that had both but wasn't cheesy looking. I found this daisy bedding at JcPenney and everything centered around it and its colors. The walls are a soft lavender that look amazing with the white trim and furniture.I added butterflies around the room because she loves them too. We are both very pleased with the finished product!, Girls' Rooms Design

  • Cottage style kitchen remodel, We moved into this 130 year old home and renovated the kitchen. We knocked out a wall that was between kitchen and office. Painted cabinets, new counter tops and back splash. Now it is a open, light filled kitchen with breakfast bar and table and chairs. There were built in bookcases in office that are now part of kitchen. We are not done painting the shelves on the bookcases yet., Kitchens Design

  • hanging bed, My 11 year old daughter finally got her own room so we had fun decorating it together. She picked all the colors and helped do all the decorating. Most of the "decorative" items in the room were made by her. I am proud of her choices and we had a lot of fun doing it together. Oh and we used so much of what we already had that it cost under 150 for the whole room. I have more info on my blog montanachic@wordpress.com, Girls' Rooms Design

  • Warm, tuscan-inspired kitchen and family room, These are the two spaces where we spend most of our time. I absolutely love the colors in these rooms -- I've used chocolate brown olive green and rust. Just recently added hardware to the cabinets all new kitchen chairs new sofas and added molding to the island and painted it black. I did all the molding in the room and made all of the window treatments. Enjoy!, Kitchens Design
