I have always loved the medieval times and as a little girl I would dream that I was a princess and lived in a huge castle. As I got older that dream never left so I decided to try and make it come true! I have actually redone my entire apartment in the medieval theme however my bedroom is the best room in my appartment. It took me aprox.1 year and a little over a thousand dollars to complete. I figured since I spent so much time and effort on it I wanted to share it with you enjoy!

My husband's and my goal was "frugal." We scored some high-quality furniture pieces at steep discounts. Hubby built a high bed frame to complement the 12-ft ceilings. We used embossed copper tiles to make the headboard. I used fabric heat-bond to apply decorative fabric to the faux-suede drape panels. We antiqued the walls and molding. We painted the oak vanity. We want a dramatic candelabra to put over the bed. Our question is: Do we paint the ceiling; if so what color?

I call this room my Conservatory where I can enjoy a flowery look watch the backyard birds read listen to music watch movies have a cup of tea etc. I think I would like to have an area rug between the sofa and the fireplace (opposite the sofa. Just wondering - should it be a dark color? I love to mix up patterns so I would like a patterned rug.

Two-story high walls in my family room and an awkward traffic pattern made this room a challenge. This our place to entertain watch movies stretch out for a nap and is adjacent to the eat-in kitchen and stairway to bedrooms.

This room has evolved over many years.
It originally had a shed style roof. We centered it adding beams and recessed lights. We replaced the windows with french door s and skim coated the walls for a smooth finish. We painted them gray with a slightly darker version on the ceiling. We stained the beams a greenish brown. On a trip to Paris in 1999 we came across our unique & amazing fireplace mantle,overmantle and matching screen and had it shipped back. A dear friend gave us the beautiful painting. We couldn't believe it when it fit the opening perfectly! We call her the lady of the house. Over the years we've found many treasures that have found their way into our Living Room like the extremely unusual brass rolling ball clock I found just this week at TJ Maxx!
As I write this, I'm so sad because as I was trying to add more photos I accidently deleted the room and all the wonderful comments, views and ratings I had received over the past few weeks.
So here is the new and hopefully improved Chinoiserie or Asian Inspired Living Room, hope you like it!

this was a dinner for 60 people at the chicago renaissance hotel, we took design ideas from cb2 and crate and barrel and built the chandleiers and stained them to match the old farm house style tables, with a mix of old, re-conditioned candelbras and new trendy glass ones to create a unique and and magical look.
