When we bought our home, we wanted to create a beautiful bedroom for our oldest daughter. She picked out the color scheme and wanted a butterfly-themed room.

I am a lover of contemporary living. Ever since I thought of making our daughter's nursery I was looking for something that looks modern and contemporary. After my rigorous research I finally settled down to "Gray and Yellow" theme, Gray was to give the room that elegance and Yellow was to diffuse that freshness and incandescence for a girl's room. I loved how the combination was vivid as well as graceful.
However, I wanted to keep a balance between splurging for the nursery and 'thinking too much'. I think I was able to get to it finally!
I got my inspiration from all the beautiful projects that have been submitted already. I had previously done my son's room, and I also wanted Ayana's room to be as pretty as she herself is.

I first posted this space before my baby was born. Now she is a busy toddler and her room has grown and changed as much as she has! I thought you all might like to see how it has evolved. To all of you that were concerned that a baby wouldn't be able to sleep in such a vibrant room...happily that was never a problem. Our daughter has been an excellent sleeper from the very start. :

Oh what fun! I am so glad to be here today sharing photos from my latest project, baby Victor’s nursery. The space feels so airy, but cozy. There is a beautiful texture wall made from wood and white 3D wall tiles. A little bit of green, some gray and a touch of red brings life to the space. The room is a continuation of the design style of my home. But here it has a whimsical feel. With lion and horse figures, animal art prints, and a fox decal, this nursery is a woodland heaven.
Here is a list of where you can find all the lovely items in this nursery:
- Crib: IKEA
- Curtains: Pottery Barn
- Red V Metal Letter: Pottery Barn Teen
- Animal Art Prints: Sharon Montrose
- Print Frames: Target
- Crib Bumper: Dwell Studio
- Elephant Photo Frame: Dwell Studio
- 3D Wall Tiles: 2Modern.com
- ABC and Number Canvasses: TrendyPeas.com
- Cloud Mobile: TrendyPeas.com
- Fox Decal: TrendyPeas.com

When we moved, my little girl was 15 mos! We wanted to transition her into a toddler bed but this room wouldnt accomodate a toddler bed with a crib, so the crib had to go, and when we found this gorgeous bed at the Broyhill Furniture Outlet, the idea of a toddler bed went out the window as well! Luckily she stayed in the bed and never had a transitioning issue. The other furniture is from the 1970's and is Bassett. It was my parents and was repainted for her nursery! My daughter obviously has an owl/fairy/garden theme!

When we bought our like new home this past summer, it was obvious the previous renters didn't manage the landscaping, so we overhauled it all and gave it some curb appeal.

We created a cute comfortable nursery on a budget. We wanted to keep the walls neutral so we added lots of color in the accessories. The entire room including furniture, paint, light fixture, and accessories cost less than $600. We couldn't be happier with the results!

This tree is now available as a decal at http://www.etsy.com/shop/AnitaRoll. The color combination is unusual but reallly works in this nursery that is sweet and dramatic at the same time.

We wanted a space that was feminine, but not over the top so our baby girl could grow up in her room for years before She might want us to do some redecorating. The butterflies on the wall are cut out from left over wedding invites I designed when we were married from a thick pearlized paper. The drapes are shear with embroidered butterflies (white-on-white, the chair moulding is 30% up the wall with a soft white color on the bottom. The wall mounted shelves were mounted for later photos we could easily switch out rather than mounting pictures flat. This all gives the room a organic, soft and feminine feel in the end and we are happy to say we did everything ourselves, but build the furniture :-

We moved here in late winter 2007, and I began planning then. I'm new to Northern gardening, and have used a lot of reference materials to find plants for this zone. A lot of trial and error, and this is my work in progress. All ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
