  • Confused Living Room, Our living room measures 12.11 X 15.4, kind of small. I've had some ideas on how I'd like to see it, but my husband and I have differing ideas so it just stays the way it is. We've filled it with pieces we each had, and added some new ones we've purchased along the way....... we just can't seem to pull it together. You'll notice after living in the house for over four years we still haven't replaced the light bulb in the ceiling with a fixture! Sad., Living Rooms Design

  • What's Red and Velvet with Pillows All Over? My couch!, My husband found this red couch. I started from there and found a soft yellow color for the walls. Eventually, I will convince my husband to repaint the room a slightly deeper yellow. I think it would be warmer with less contrast. But I don't see that happening anytime soon. Do you think it's too many dark colors? I realize red is a bold color choice for furniture. Although I'm not sure this couch screams ME I do like it and would love to read what you think is and isn't working in my space.

  • Contemporary Living, Contemporary Living Room. We just remodeled it about a year ago. It got a complete face lift. It did have bright green carpet, dark paneling and original windows. We gutted it and had it drywalled, new windows installed, recessed lighting put in the ceiling, crown molding installed, new light fixtures, and carpet installed. We painted the walls gray and the ceiling white. We were going to go with hardwood floors but my husband insisted on carpet. He is always on his feet so when he's home he needs the added comfort. We also went with gray carpet to give it a cleaner more cohesive feeling. Plus it helps the other pieces in the room stand out.. Like our main focal point in the room..the fireplace., Living Rooms Design

  • Installing Laminate Flooring , BEDROOM UPGRADE

My mother-in-law's carpet in her bedroom was in bad shape and it was time for an upgrade. She didn't want carpet again, and was torn between hardwood and laminate flooring. From all of the research we saw, we decided to go with laminate over hardwood flooring because they said it would be better if you have children. I wanted to make sure she she got a good quality one that didn't break the budget, so afte much research I was able to find these nice 12 mm boards (the thickest kind you can find) for $1.29 per sq ft (AMAZING PRICE). My hubby just bought me a miter saw for valentines day (for those of you that don't know me this was EXACTLY what I wanted). I measured the room, picked up all of the material needed for the project, and I was off and running. I hope you like what I did. I know my mother-in-law- was soooo excited., Bedrooms Design
